b/c its his fault the WRs had the dropsies, Kenny Hill was inaccurate throwing past 10 yards, and the o-line forgot how to block!

I assumed it would be him. Didn't know if we were done with the co-OC thing, though. Also, with the long hold out on announcing, haven't ruled out the possibility the new WR coach is a grand slam hire with OC experience

Screen pass for no gain, stretch with B. Williams or Carson for 1 yard, incomplete pass, punt

Repeat 15x per game.

It IS his fault for calling a million bubble screens a game and rarely going downfield or over the middle. His playcalling vs. WVU was much improved though.

However, how can anyone forget:

1) Pitch to Trey in our own end zone, which almost turned into a safety.
2) Trick play with Allen throwing to Carson, who threw it back across to Allen.
3) That awesome Cam Clear 4th down play.

off the top of my head I can't recall the situation on #2 but #1 and #3 should have both been TDs had the players actually executed. #1 was blown up b/c a lineman and a WR totally blew their blocks and #3 is all on Cam Clear for giving half assed effort once he got the ball.

Kennedy missed his block in that pitch to Trey. It would have gained yards, but by no means would have been a guaranteed first down (or TD like you're claiming). A pitch is dangerous in our own end zone and Trey is tiny. Hell of an effort just to avoid the safety.

Cam had NOWHERE to go. He had three guys on him almost immediately after the catch. Mizzou didn't bite at all; their players were disciplined and stayed home.

Spav was the OC all by himself this year and if we were going to fire him it would have been done already and if we were going to demote him he would have taken another job already.

I questioned the play calling a fair amount this year as well but it's quite obvious he will be calling the plays again this year

Trey had blockers and space ahead of him if Kennedy makes that block. It would have been a huge run if the missed block was worth a damn.

Cam ran directly into the guys ahead of him instead of towards the blocker to his left. Of course, I can't blame it all on him b/c the left guard that was supposed to clear space on his right decided to block nobody instead of one of the two players near him.

I'm sorry but both those plays failed b/c of lack of execution by the players. Not b/c they were terrible calls.

That's the whole point, you don't run a play that becomes a game losing safety if ONE block is missed. You go with something safe.

Cam didn't have time to run. Three guys were on him immediately after he caught the ball and turned. We had 1 or 2 blockers for 3 guys. That's not going to work.

this argument is so tired. Play calling isn't nearly as important as y'all make it out to be and makes up ~1% of the effectiveness of an OC. And any discussion of it on fan sites essentially amounts to any call that worked = good and any call that didn't = bad with zero depth to the discussion.

But either way, yes, Spavital will be the OC. Co-OC does not really mean anything in most cases. All the offensive assistants assist in game planning and titles like co-OC/RGC/PGC etc are given to differentiate pay. It's just a title

IMO every play near the goal line can be a safety if one block is missed.
