We need to come out and beat the shite out of them. They took Penn State to the limit, so we can't underestimate them.

I'll be interested to see who starts, if Weigman is healthy. I think he deserves another shot. I'm reluctant to jump off the bandwagon because I still think he can be elite. Still, it's comforting to know Reed's waiting in the wings if things go south.

Gig 'em.

It doesn't really matter for this game and may even be a moot point depending on the extent of Conner's injury, but I still think that Weigman has a higher ceiling than Reed. Flame away.

Maybe so but does he reach it? I feel confident in Reed with this offensive system. I hope he’s the starter moving forward until something goes very wrong.

I think this is where I’m at as well, surely there was a reason he was the #1 QB in the 2022 class and everybody wanted him. But injuries and jimbo’s development have done him no favors, that’s for sure.

I think our fanbase is way too fickle and jumping on the Reed train way too quickly. It’s just Florida, they’re easily one of the worst sec opponents we face this year. I need to see more from Reed and against better competition before I jump on board.

That all being said I never was a “Connor is winning the heisman this year” guy either. I think we have decent/good QBs on campus, but nobody elite yet. Hope I’m wrong about that, but just how I see it today.

I don’t disagree about what you’re saying about his stunted development, but we have 11 games over 3 seasons of him to digest. He flashes a little 2 years ago, but didn’t show much last year and was abhorrent vs ND.

The sample we have from Reed is great. He held his own as a true freshman who was not prepping to start in the bowl. He killed UF. His legs give him an X factor the Weigman cannot match.

It’s not just Florida though. Everyone saw how the offense looked once Henderson and eventually Reed took the field in Jimbo’s offense last year. They moved the ball a hell of a lot better. I just don’t believe CW would have commanded the offense as well vs Moo, LSU, and Okie St. They both looked so much more decisive w/their decisions even though they were playing behind the same poor o-line. I really do think he’s a lot like Kyle Allen in that he looks the part b/c of his arm talent but for whatever reason it doesn’t translate to the field.

But what about his 4 TD performance against Ole Miss in his first start back in 2022?

Great debut.

In 4 of the 5 games vs. legit opponents since then, he's been below replacement level.

If he was something special, we'd be seeing consistently good/great performances from him. The fact we are not seeing that tells me it's ok to move on.

I was hoping this wouldn’t be the case but not surprised. CW shoukd not start over Reed. Period.

He played fine in his last game. Kid deserves to get the benefit of the doubt until he proves he can't beat the elite teams.

Start him against BG, see what happens. If he doesn't stink it up, start him against Arkansas. If he plays poorly, then bench him for good and start wondering what school he's going to transfer to.

Weigman is still injured. I’d be surprised to see him start

I’m sure the teams playing us later in the season don’t want Reed developing further too.

Not to change the subject but… is Bond the best kicker on the roster 2 years in a row?

Dude was a liability last year over 40 yards. Mediocre at best. Opening kickoff out of bounds. 2 missed vs Gators no surprise at all.

Bond equals puckerup time. Don’t even want to think about relying on him for a clutch pressure kick with game on the line. Surely A&M can do better.

Yeah I think kicker is a big spot on a roster that needs attention. I guess we just haven’t recruited well there/found the right guy. Definitely not consistent there but I don’t know what the answer is, kinda hard to change kickers mid season.

Down by 2 with 5 seconds left and a 45 yard field goal attempt coming up? I’ll be a nervous wreck.

Does Bond kick off for us?
Anybody know what the status of our Center position is?

Found the updated depth chart.
Faaiu is still listed as #1, with Ashton Funk #2.
Pretty sure Zirkel has been kicking off, not Bond.

Some perspective on Bond.

2023
Pct.
74.3 % - 70th

40-50
40.0%

50+
83.3%
His 5 were tied with the most of CFB last year

XP
100.0%

I don't think he's bad, I don't think he's great. Seems like the average P4 kicker to me.
