I don’t think Sampson is going anywhere

Tillman will spend, but I doubt he would want to fund the entire salary increase on his own. He has his own basketball team now to oversee. While UH did money whip Dana Holgerson, let's not forget that WVU didn't even care to put up a fight. For UofH boosters, football > basketball. I just don't see them having the budget to pay both of their football and basketball coaches.

If Arkansas were to offer anywhere near 2.5 million, Sampson likely walks.

both a&m and arky will be making better ones though as long as nothing funky happens with buzz and if arky can pry samspon away

Hop is saying it will happen if VT doesn't advance this weekend. I guess our side feels that nothing short of Buzz spending a week in Blacksburg preparing for a Final Four will stop it at this point.

its about how the culture seeps down into all levels of the organization and the players themselves take internal ownership

That makes sense, and I would agree with that. That seemed to be lacking most years with Kennedy, even with the great individual players he had.

Houston media has said that Houston is offering up to 3M but not any higher. Maybe that changes if Arkansas is willing to go higher. Some are saying we are willing to spend up to 4M.

One of our main reporters is saying that Sampson is more likely staying than leaving but our media in general isn't that great.

Could all be smoke between two friends. Hunter gets Sampson a bigger raise and Sampson takes all the coverage away from Hunter's main target. I want this to be over soon.

If I’m betting and odds are even then I’d bet he’s going to Arkansas assuming they really are willing to commit to 3.5+ with a sky high buyout. I’ve said all along Tilman & UH are going to fight tooth and nail to keep him. This is the most success the b-ball program has had since Hakeem was there in ‘84.

Don't doubt that and I know they have money for sure. Just can't stand some of the Cougar fans that act like Arkansas doesn't have just as much and more. As someone else said, I think his son will factor in as well.

I believe Pio has posted some of it. One of my favs was them talking about our only good decade was in the 70s. Like at least get our best decade right if you are going to be ignorant about our program to start with.

I just think any promises made to his son of going to be lies. Do you honesty think either place is going to name him head coach and waiting then give it to him in 4, 5, 6 years (whenever Sampson hangs it up)? Too much can happen in that time and I don’t think either school will want a first time head coach to take over an established program.

I know Arkansas wouldn’t be held to that but Sampson might trust Hunter more than the Houston Ad because of their relationship. Maybe he thinks his son will have a better shot. I’m not sure how high Houston is on him. If Sampson is gone for good, would they even consider his son?

Well it isn’t a debate. Houston is a 4th largest city in the US. It’s huge, sprawling, loaded with things to do, culture, diversity, opportunity, and surrounded by loads of upper middle class suburbs. I would not choose it for college, but it’s a great place to live.
