Anybody even want to talk about this? Obviously doesn’t look good with our struggles against Vandy and Bama whipping Mizzou pretty good like they should.

I guess the most disappointing thing to me in this first game was it felt like I was watching a Sumlin era team. Dumb mistakes/penalties, runs out of shotgun on short yardage situations, in general had a few chances to build a lead and maintain momentum and squandered it away each time (no killer instinct, also a Sherman era problem). Very undisciplined, the special teams mistakes were pretty egregious.

Any thoughts? Just first game rust? Saving the true playbook for real games like Bama? I doubt either of those, but being optimistic isn’t a crime I suppose.

If it gets ugly do we see a different QB? I’d hope so, but not sure Jimbo would do it (doesn’t want a QB controversy excuse).

Is there any strategy to keep it close/win?

Just for reference, jimbo hasn’t gotten within 2 scores of Bama during his time here. 2018 was a 23-45 loss, 2019 was a 28-47 loss.

Seems like easy money taking Bama and giving the points.

I’d gladly part with a couple hundred to see us keep it within 9 after the Vandy game.

I don't think we're as bad as advertised. We were warned that Jimbo "plays to win" and produces frustrating games against bad teams, but I certainly don't think were going to win this week, and will be pretty surprised if we cover. Although, I hope the many inexplicable mistakes are knocking of the rust of a weird off-season or well be in for a long season.

Unfortunately, I think Kellen is safe until the bye week at the absolute earliest unless its a 59-0 type game. Unless Jimbo is just stubborn and doesn't mind losing, I don't think Calzada will ever be the starter. He's had plenty of time to take the helm. I get not putting in a True Freshman that didn't even have a Spring or Fall camp. I think we're stuck with Mond to grind through this year.

It looked like a typical Jimbo A&M team, from what we've seen so far.

And I think the Alabama game goes a lot like the previous two. Not completely outclassed (like in 2014 or last year vs LSU) but never really a threat to win. I think our OL still isn't good enough to generate a run game vs a credible front 7 and our WRs still look really average. And then Mond is really up-and-down unless he gets in a jig hole and can just take a bunch of chances, and it's a recipe for not much offensive production.

I think the DL will temper the Alabama run game, but I'm worried about our linebackers shutting it down completely. And I think there is a good chance our DBs get roasted by the speed of Alabama.

Don't really like our chances here. Would just like to see us play a much more clean game and then hopefully take care of business the following week when Florida comes to town.

We were completely outclassed in 2018 and 2019. The only reason the scores look decent are because of garbage time touchdowns in 2018 (2) and 2019 (2).

This isn't right, but you just want to bitch and moan about everything so there's no point in trying to have a discussion.

The halftime score was 38-13 in 2018. At that point it was over.

Alabama led 34-13 in the 3rd in 2019. At that point it was over.

I like to think that y'all will play up to the competition this weekend. Don't expect the Ags to win but I don't think Bama covers.

Again you're making things up to whine.

Maybe you're just too emotional to follow college football.

Either we play down to our competition and we’re going to be competitive or we’re about to get royally embarrassed

We have never really had a good first game under Jimbo. But we over performed against Clemson the next week. We aren’t going to win though

I really thought he was going to go through with his word and boycott the team.

A man is only as good as his word .

Should have been a shutout but we choked it away. Not a great game imo

Aside from one play for a TD, they had less than 150 yards of total offense.
