You can be high and mighty on the road. I'll take the regional host.

I'd say so, yes.

Had this been done by any other program we'd be saying it as well.

There are two good ways to increase RPI. 1. schedule better teams. 2. beat those better teams.

apparently, we have decided a coward's way of halting any decreasing RPI and that's by tucking tail and not playing. No apologies from me. I come from a time where I thought it not too long ago when you played your schedule. After this ducking we have ZERO ground to ever complain to LSU about backing out of the football contract. ZERO.

I am admittedly grouchy in my old age but this stinks to high heaven.

The moral of the story is we shouldn’t schedule shitty arse programs like Incarnate Word for late (or any time) mid week games

After getting boned by two selection committees in two years though IDGAF what we do to gain an advantage in that department

It is being done by other programs.

Alabama did it twice last year and NT canceled an entire weekend series this year.

Schloss inherited this schedule. He'll have a chance to get it however he likes in 2023.

---

The fact that a win hurts your team is kind of crazy when you think about it. Why not take your X best wins (maybe 20?) and all your losses, weigh the weekend heavier, and then rank the team with a calculation like RPI. That way, you're still getting credit for playing good teams, you still get penalized for losing to bad teams, and you don't get dinged for beating up on the IWs of the world in late May.

Yeah it’s dumb. Hopefully these cancellations lead to changes in how they evaluate teams

Old friend Notre Dame has canceled a bunch this year, at least a few of which look to be for the same reason

Everyone stay calm. But we now control our own destiny for the SEC WEST.

Dallas has fallen apart but the rest of the pitching appears to be getting better. Especially the freshmen

Let’s say we finish with the same conference record, But Arkansas has one more out of conference win. Do total victories affect who carries the title for SEC West division? Or is it in conference games only?

Conference games only. We have the tiebreaker for the SEC tourney. They'd need to win 1 more than us or have some weird cancellation where they go 2-0 and we go 2-1.

We're #6, #4, & #4 in the polls this morning.

This team keeps defying all expectations. Ole Miss is going to be tough this weekend, but if we win have to be in consideration for a T8 seed at Regionals

This thread is gold.

quote:

Weadjust is absolutely correct.

It was no secret (ask Kendall Rogers) that Schlossnagle inherited a mess of a weak roster at A&M. He wanted the LSU job, but the Aggies were pressing for a yes or no from him and he didn't want to blow an opportunity.
Meanwhile, Woodward didn't know what to do when his choice of Pat Casey was vetoed. He finally let Stephanie Rempe (Arizona alum, what a coincidence!) make the hire.

So here we sit, letting Ole Miss sweep us at home in an important late season series.

Our once mighty program is a shadow of itself.
Meanwhile, a coach we could have hired has rebuilt A&M's weak roster and has them with the best record in the SEC West.

If you think Johnson is a better coach, you're fooling yourself. Schlossnagle was a better fit (he had been an assistant at Tulane), knows how to build winning programs and he WANTED to come here.

quote:

People don’t want to admit it but Schloss is a better and more experienced coach right now. He took over a roster that was worse than LSU’s and completely rebuilt it. Now he’s competing for a national seed in his first year. Something that we were doing until we got swept at home in the most important series of the year.

I actually think that Schloss would have preferred the LSU job but Woodward wanted a bigger name. Ironic, no? The man has put together an elite staff at A&M, and we are on the rise. LSU isn't terrible but their fans expect championship contention every year
