But seriously, I'm so goddamn sick of losing when it matters in every sport that matters.

A&M coaches named R.C. always choke when it matters most.

I'm just glad I wasn't able to follow this season as closely as I did last year. Otherwise I'd be a lot more pissed off than I am now.

We went 99-30 with back to back years with an RPI in the top 5? How the hell do we not find a way to get to Omaha. You don't even have to be that good. You just have to win 5 to 6 games over 2 weekends. It blows my mind.

Indeed. Really mind blowing.

But this team was fun. Season just ended too early. They did bring home our first SEC baseball hardware though so at least it wasn't completely empty.

just reminds you how unimportant the regular season is. look at that 2014 texas team or arkansas last year, both were mediocre yet made a serious run in omaha.

The ability to mash the ball really hid just how bad the infield play was for most of the year.

If you run into pitchers having a great day like we did w/TCU you can't afford to have the kind of infield mistakes and deficiencies that plagued this team and win the series b/c every run's importance is magnified.

Great pitching holds down great hitting the vast majority of the time. That's exactly what happened here.

Our pitching was better (on paper) than TCU's. Our infield played 10x better than last year. We had filthy offensive numbers.

I think it was all between the ears. Our team put the pressure on ourselves and did not rise to the occasion. TTU & OSU had no problem blasting Howard during the season. There was more than one occasion where Howard would hang a belt high breaking ball and we'd either take it or whiff. TCU just made fewer mistakes especially down the stretch.

Better pitching on paper doesn't mean squat if your infield fails the way ours consistently did in this series while face two starting pitchers for TCU that both had their best games of the year. It doesn't matter that other teams were able to hit Howard. Just b/c a pitcher gets rocked doesn't mean he can't still shut down a different team that is theoretically better at the plate. Sometimes a guy just has it.

Case in point

quote:

Who is the worst (MLB) pitcher to ever throw a no-hitter? That title belongs to Philip Humber, who like a few other names on this list had a perfect game. Humber’s perfect game came in 2012 as a member of the Chicago White Sox. This was a year where Humber was 5-5 with a 6.44 ERA. His perfect game against the Seattle Mariners shocked everyone in what was just Humber’s second start of the season. Humber was promptly shelled by the Boston Red Sox in his very next outing, leading the way to a career 16-23 record and 5.31 ERA and landing him at the top spot of this list.

LINK

Again, great pitching almost always wins over hitting and for two of those games their starters pitched great while our were merely good and got saddled w/poor infield play.

If this year's team was simply middle of the pack in the SEC in field it would likely have caused games 1 and 3 to go very differently.

I'm actually quite surprised that nobody saw this type of series coming considering how awful they were at turning double plays and how many infield errors there were all season.

It's simply too much to expect a team to be able to mash their way out of such mediocre infield defense every single series. It's going to eventually bite you in the arse and this year it was unfortunately in the Supers.

Jace Vines signs. I was shocked with how early he went. I wasn't expecting him him to be gone after this year.

So far the only underclassmen staying is Hill, but there is still a lot of undecided.
