I agree this feels a whole lot like Jefferson.....
Would be a huge loss, but not 1/100th as huge as if we didn't get the DC right. My only point is that next year is going to be a huge improvement over this year thanks to Chavis....as well as the next several years.
Screw up the DC hire and get Murray and it's more of the score 30 and give up 35 days.....

Exactly. Getting Chavis was the biggest and best thing that could have happened to us, no question. We need to be able to win games when our offense isn't on their "A" game, which happens quite a bit in league play. Every loss we had in the SEC except for Alabama last season happened because our offense stalled and our defense just broke down on key drives by the opposition. If we win a game 9-6 next year or 14-13.....something along those lines...it's worth celebrating a little more than usual knowing Sumlin made a huge difference in the off-season by bringing in a guy who knows how to align a defense properly in the SEC. Winning a game 52-14 and 52-51 is essentially the same thing. You don't get extra credit in the win column by winning by bigger margins. But holding a team in check? Gutting out a win when you have to? That's when you know a team can truly be special.

Yes, he was, but I would've felt a lot better if he had said something like "y'all got nothing to worry about." "Go to the school that makes you happy," for those negative interpreters out there, could suggest that A&M may not be that school.
