I do it all the time in video games but it seems like you don't see it in practice. Maybe I'm just not paying enough attention
Eta: guess I'm not

Smart pickup.
If he redshirts next season, he starts after Kaser and Lambo graduate.

How many people were bummed to find out that the "Yessir" was for a kicker/punter?
Obvi an important position, but not very sexy.

I was shocked as you almost never use a slot for a kicker/punter.
Then again look at it this way: the Sliver now reaches to the Florida Gulf Coast.

A kicker/punter is a very important position even if you only punt once every three games. I just hope he can make extra points.

Is he at the same school as George Campbell?

You guys obviously don't remember Tony Franklin. He absolutely won games for A&M when I was in school with his 50+ and 60+ yard field goals.

Lol until our D catches up, I don't think that's a possibility.

Lets not forget that, with a better kicker, we would have played for the national title in 2012. Bertolet missed two or three FGs against LSU and we lost by 5.

Exactly. That is why I want the best kicker money can buy....

he missed two and one of those was around 50 (?)yards I think, I don't care that he missed that one. what did us in on that game is that we abandoned the run after CMike fumbled and that clipping penalty that took away our second touchdown

The other was a 33 yarder (from the 18 yard line) and he also missed a PAT.

so ill account him for four points left on the field. im not trying to white knight for him by any means, but I don't necessarily put the LSU loss on him

The clipping play was a screen pass, and I always blame kickers when they miss. If you are going to school for free to do NOTHING but kick FGs, I expect you to make anything around 50 and under automatically. It's like FTs to me, only you are designated to ONLY shoot FTs in this scenario.

quote:right, but it was something that could have been avoided that took at the bare minimum six points from us
The clipping play was a screen pass
quote:right, but I wouldn't draw the comparison of a FT to a kick around 50 yards. that's more of an open three. you hope hits it, but understand that he wont hit everything from that distance. id make the FT comparison to all of the other field goals he missed from within 45

In a 5 point loss. That meant that, on the Malena TD at the end, we could have gone for 2 down 24-22.

Right. But we an 8 point game is much different than a 12 point game at the point at that time. It won't be played the same way. I dont think we can put primary blame on bertolet for our loss against LSU

The highlighted portion was right after Trey Williams nearly broke the KO return. Bertolet responded by missing a FG of less than 35 yards which pretty much killed our will.

then that's on the team and johnny for not putting the ball in the endzone when given the opportunity. sure he SHOULD have hit that FG, but we also should have scored a potential go ahead touchdown on the drive
