Edit: Looks like Albert O is a pretty big loss for you guys.

I think his backup is pretty good too. It was against Vandy but he did well enough to earn freshman player of the week accolades (forget which one).

You should be in line for a great day on offense then.

It's not like Mizzou can't pressure the QB, but it's nowhere near like pre-Odom years.

If our OL had more than two games (AU and UK) to back it up, I'd feel more confident. Right now, they've had 2 really good games at very different times in the season.

Our skills guys are good, especially QB and WR/TE. Hell, even our RBs are good when they're not getting hit behind the line but we've only been able to put together a full game on offense twice and a complete game, with both defense and offense playing well, once.

Right now, I don't think our offense can compete in a high scoring game. Our team has been incredibly hard to predict this year but I do predict we'll have at least one false start on the O -- that's one thing I'm confident in.

Any pressure we do get is from up the middle, nothing from the outsides.

That's not a bad thing for you. We've struggled all season with guard play -- last Saturday being an exception.

Albert O. is Lock's second favorite target, so yes it's a significant loss. The back-up is Daniel Parker a converted DE who's a beast in the run game and coming along as a receiver.

Another player of significance who may or may not play is RB Tyler Badie. He's cut from the mold of Marcus Murphy as a change of pace speed back and a great compliment to Roundtree and Crockett.

How have the Vols been at stopping the run? I see that as the best path to victory for us.

Not great. We had our best game of the year in terms of rush defense last weekend against Kentucky where we only gave up 77 yards on the ground. We're improving, but inconsistent.

Against Kentucky, Charlotte and Auburn, our run defense was stout as frick. Kentucky especially, we essentially neutralized Snell and held Terry Wilson to negative yardage. I think they had 77 yards on 34 carries, phenomenal job last week. Charlotte also had a decent running game, but they couldn't move the ball on us all day.

Against South Carolina, Bama, Florida, and Georgia, we were pretty awful.

You'll probably have some success running because you run a spread and we don't have enough speed to keep outside containment.

Mizzou matches up with us better than Kentucky because of Lock. Kentucky is so one dimensional that once we stopped the run, they were finished.

Mizzou is gonna be a better version of South Carolina on offense, slightly softer on defense. We're gonna need to control the ball and force you to pass by getting a decent lead.

Lock's numbers against SEC competition haven't been great either. Pulled this from another board

quote:

Georgia- 23 of 48 for 221 yards 0 TDs and 1 INT. 47% completion.

South Carolina- 17 of 36 for 204 yards 0 TDs 2 INTs. 47% completion.

Alabama- 13 of 26 for 142 yards 1 TD 2 INTs. 50% completion.

Kentucky- 15 of 27 for 165 yards 0 TDs 0 INTs. 55% completion.

Florida- 24 of 32 for 250 yards 3 TDs 0 INTs. 75% completion. They have UFs number for 2nd straight year.

Vandy- 22 of 33 for 253 yards 2 TDs 2 INTs. 66% completion.

6 TDs vs 7 INTs and averaging 205 passing yards per game. With a completion % in the 50s.

Against the 4 non conference opponents:

15 TDs vs 1 INT and averaging 353 yards per game. Completion % in the 70s.

Alontae Taylor will be crucial in this game:

We need a repeat performance from Darrel Taylor and Bituli to lock down the run and give Lock something to think about.

Yeah, Lock probably cost himself significant draft position with his poor conference showing this year. He still has a chance to be a 1st rounder because of his arm and coachable attitude, but he could have been Top Ten with better year.

And Mizzou scat back Tyler Badie will play for what that's worth.

We have a secret weapon...The Dooley! I just hope the son of a bitch doesn't try to get cute like he did against Kentucky.

Hes our third string. Blanton, our 2nd string TE has missed the last few games but is supposed to be back for Tennessee. Parker our 3rd string is more of a blocker TE, Blanton is probably our fastest TE.

Throw out all stats between uga and UK. Without Hall, our offense, and lock are just flat. Hall is the first time ive seen a WR literately dictate an offense.

As you can see Florida and Vandy are with Hall.

Also completions % is the one stat that needs an asterisk. Lock, god bless him, has had the most drop passes. Like we literately had the most in P5 last year, and this year is just lightly better.

People love talking about Lock, Albert O, and Hall- but dont even care to look at our running game. Thats my favorite part of this team.

Our defense is ranked 49th, SC ranked 88th. Ours is more one dimensional, run game is like 30th, passing is laughable dont even know what its ranked. USC is just ok at both.

Heading into this game this is good to see. Both freshman corners made the list. They're still going to be up against a senior QB that can sling it but as mentioned earlier, they're a lot better than they were when they started the year against Grier.

Doesn't surprise me. As I posted above, Lock with Hall = Future hall of famer. Lock without Hall = average qb. Its frustrating, but true. And Drew has only played 2 SEC games with Hall, which were the last two.

Vs Florida - 24/32 for 250 yards 75% completion 3 TD 0 INT
Vs Vandy - 22/33 for 253 yards 66% completion 2 TD 2 INT

Hall stretches out the defense, as he does the long routes. When hes in, we'll attempt maybe 5 or more 30+ yard throws. This opens up the screen plays and running game. Our running game has benefited the most by having Hall back.

JG may have a field day, and I just read that he an Tua are the only SEC QBs with 2 picks. UT's passing game could be the difference in the game

We're definitely going to try and get the run game going, but reading the tea leaves it sounds like Pruitt wants to try and put some heat onto Missouri's secondary early and often. JG can make some great plays.. the question is which version of his OL shows up to play tomorrow
