John Currie did NOT meet with Mullen today
Posted on 11/24/17 at 6:47 pm to David Ricky
If Currie doesn't even bother to interview Mullen that leads me to believe two things:
1. Media, paysites, and people that work in the AD know nothing about what is going on. Any list or ramblings from them can be ignored.
2. Currie is going to knock this out of the park or is incompetent.
I am liking Currie so far. He is like if the VOLS fanbase during a coaching search manifested itself into the AD. The guy is having a blast.

Not only did he not interview Mullen, he was in Knoxville all day and was seen just chilling watching football practice
VQ and 247 are both completely in the dark with this search. Neither of them have even been able to confirm a single candidate that has been interviewed or even met with. This nearly is the exact opposite of the 2012 search with Roll Tide Dave.
Hubbs posted some emails between Currie and some KState boosters when they had a coaching search. His exact quote to one of the boosters

It feels like the hire has already been made. If it has then is bodes very well for Tennessee.

If it has been made, then it’s Gruden. I don’t see another possibility if it’s already been finalized.

We can go scorched earth if it’s either grudon or helicopter dick.

I'm LOVING how this search is unfolding so far and Currie has seriously impressed me

Guys, I had a moment of weakness during the Mullen smoke screen. I feel very, very good about this coaching search now.
That being said, I am prepping a pron bomb for the ages should we trot out Norvell, Schiano, etc.

I am one of the few that would have been happy with Mullen. Schiano less so, but he would be a massive upgrade from Butch. I realize how little that says. Norvell is too inexperience, possible just riding coattails, and his defenses have been poorly ranked in all areas.
But if we do better than Mullen then it is a homerun and the AD apparently thinks they have a guy better than Mullen. Gruden or Petersen might actually be the guy. It feels like 90s Tennessee football is on the verge of resurrection.

Hearing some additional details from the guy that I spoke with and posted about a few days ago that leads me to believe that it's going to be a splash hire.
To me, it sounds like Gruden is the guy, but I'm hesitant to post that with the way things have gone in the past. From the sounds of it, even if it's not Gruden, I think we're all going to be very happy.
Shout our to Currie who has been nearly impossible to get any information from. If it wasn't for the Football complex/Facility staff being told to come in to work tomorrow I don't think any information would have came out.

I'm starting to believe it is Petersen more so than Gruden.

I would lose it if we sacked up and actually made a big dick hire like Petersen. Where did that info start coming from?
Posted on 11/25/17 at 10:49 am to TRUERockyTop
One of the very few insiders I put any stock in,LWS, is my fuel source. He hasn't said it's a done deal or even happening, but he has been uncharacteristically positive. Put Petersen at 60%. For reference he had Gruden at 5%. Other AD sources have said there has been talks between Petersen and Tennessee.
Combine that with Tennessee supposedly throwing around big money and Petersen being unhappy with the PAC 12 and I feel like there is a realistic chance.
