Two things I’ve seen from Alex Golesh that gives me hope for Auburn

Game 1: Actually won a close game that was still in doubt to the very end. And did so against a decent P4 opponent.
Game 2: Handled a lesser opponent in a manner one of the SEC’s Big 6 should handle them.
I also like the fact that despite the fact Auburn dominated Southern Miss last night from start to finish, after the game Golish wasn’t satisfied with what he saw.
I still think the ceiling for this team is 7-8 wins, though they could surprise everyone any maybe win 9. But they also could just as easily go 6-6. Well just have to wait and see how things shake out. But the two things I listed above that Auburn has done so far in 2026, two things we haven’t seen them do in years, gives me hope that Auburn has finally found them a coach.

anyone chalking up State in the W column got a real wakeup call yesterday
i fully expected them to win yesterday - i didn’t expect that epic beatdown
i share the OP’s sentiments about Alexsey, but outside of Arky & Vandy there are no relatively sure things on AU’s SEC schedule this year

Very true. And October is just around the corner. Don’t know if you’ve looked at Auburn’s schedule in October, but to call it brutal would be an understatement…

Auburn-Florida game next Saturday will tell us a lot about both teams. My feeling is that the loser will be fighting for bowl eligibility and the winner may be able to make the push for 8 or so wins.

Yep, that's the vibe his teams were noted for in Tampa. Will that be good enough to match Gus Malzahn's roller coaster highs and upsets he managed to navigate? Doesn't seem to be the same thrill ride at this point.
