Academics? LOL. Texas big time.

Mountains? Texas actually has them. Texas.
National Parks? Big Bend>Smokies. Texas.

Texas has better brisket. Tennessee wins hands down on pork.
I love the Big Bend region, but it's not superior to East Tennessee.
Tennessee has a better climate and a lot of water. I'm in Austin this weekend, and this place is hot and dry as a bone.
I don't anyone but you that would say Texas has better music.

They can call themselves UT even if they didn't have the "University of Tennessee" name until after the University of Texas was created by the Texas lege. Whatever makes them feel better about themselves.

I agree, the Smokey Mountains are beautiful. But I would put the prettiest parts of Big Bend up against any area in Tennessee.
They do have us beat with climate though...not gonna lie.

But Tennessee also has the blues. I'm not a fan of the new country music emerging in Nashville and other places. I'm more of a George Jones, Merle Haggard kind of guy.
Tennessee and Texas have long, interwoven histories with great traditions. Should be a really fun game.
