Not really similar in my opinion. One coach has admitted to regretting ever leaving LSU. He wanted to test the NFL waters. Can’t blame him for that. I can promise you Lane will never say he regrets leaving ole miss. It was always a stepping stone job for him.

Do you retards not realize Saban would have gone back to Loserana in 2016 if he actually regretted leaving?

Brother that’s not my opinion. Came from the guys mouth. He said he “regretted leaving LSU”. I didn’t say that he did.

The difference is that Saban left to try the NFL. Kiffin left to go directly to one of the biggest rivals. That's a huge difference and the only difference.

And you’re too dumb to understand the context of Nicky’s statement, which was about returning to college football.

Disagree. He had already built a dynasty at that point at Bama in 2016. No need to leave then. In 2007 when he went from NFL back to college, Bama was 6-6. LSU was 11-1 or 10-2. LSU wasn't going to rid Les Miles after an 11-2 season.

If LSU job was open in 2007, I think he'd gone to LSU, but no way he was leaving 4 Nati's in past 7 years at Bama in 2016.

He had been at Alabama longer than lsu at that point, built them into a power, why would he go back?

I said at the time, when he wanted out of Miami, I woukd have sent Miles’s arse packing. There would have some media backlash but o well. Supposedly he reached out to the LSU AD before going to Bama.

So yea everything being equal, he would have picked LSU over Bama if he had the choice when leaving Miami..

He talked to Skip about coming back before he took the Bama job. Les were here though and the job wasn’t open.

One is successful viewed as the biggest living legend in CFB and the other stumbled up the ladder and is an early 2010s VH1 reality show.

And to your insinuation that Saban would choose LSU over Alabama.

"Alabama is the only school I would leave the NFL for."
-Nick Saban

He would have never gone back to LSU given the chance.

He regretted leaving college football in general. But if making LSU somehow be Saban’s truest deep love helps you sleep at night, okie doke.

Because Saban has never lied. He said he wasn’t leaving Miami also in numerous press conferences….

Truth is, he was fizzling out in the NFL, he didn’t have a qb, gambled wrong on Culpepper and had no path to getting one. He saw the writing on the wall. Was going to be mediocre for the foreseeable future. And his super stern schtick was wearing thin on his team. Alabama was desperate and promised the moon and threw him a lifeline.

I wasn’t happy, but like I said I would have fired Miles. There were reports he called our AD and asked to come back. Skip told him he couldn’t fire Miles. In my eyes that means he picked LSU over Bama.

Sadly our AD picked Miles over him.

This was nothing like the Lane situation. He outright picked another SEC school to the one he was currently coaching at.

Saban wanted to come back to LSU. We just didn’t have an opening.
