I know it is early, but they have 12 commits. #13 in the SEC in average rating (86.05) (Vanderbilt last at 84.35).

- 0 Top 100
- 0 Top 250
- 0 Top 300
- 1 Top 500
- 2 Top 750
- 9 Outside Top 750
- 1 Prep School

Top 7 Commits
- #339 Trenilyas Tatum - beat out Arkansas, Colorado, ECU
- #366 Bryce Steele - beat out Duke, ECU, FIU, Kentucky
- #538 Jayden Johnson - beat out Arkansas, Arky St, UTC
- #569 Colten Gauthier - beat out Arkansas, Colorado, Duke, FSU
- #796 Omega Blake - beat out Akron, App St, Buffalo
- #798 Sam Reynolds - beat out WVU, MTSU, North Alabama, Samford
- #824 Simeon Price - beat out Arkansas, Cincinnati, Colorado State

Are there bigger fish out there that Carolina feels good about? Champ usually has solid classes - just curious what the deal is here?

It's a few things but mainly our on-field performance and the rumors about Muschamp's job security towards the end of last year and going into the off season.

His first 4 classes were carried by some good talent in the state of SC, but this year SC's highest rated guy is about an .895.

I believe we've missed on a good bit of guys for this class and are having to execute plans B, C, and maybe even D.

We are also losing recruiting battles against UTk, UF and UNC that we were winning in the beginning in addition to being sandwiched between UGA and Clemson.

Muschamp can only sell ice to eskimos for so long before it melts.

South Carolina is surrounded by top notch recruiters. You have Dabo in state, Mack across one boarder, and Kirby across the other. That makes things really tough when you haven't had a whole lot of recent success on the field.

Mack at Carolina has to have really put a dent in Champ's efforts. A lot of solid players that South Carolina probably used to get going to North Carolina now.

I know you haven't had to worry about this in some time as a Bama fan, but what do you think happens to a recruiting class when the team goes 4-8 and the HC is lounging around the top of every hot seat list?

Nah i'm sure his family was well taken care of. Reminds me of marvin wilson picking FSU over LSU. I bet he regrets that decision everyday.Well Jordan will get to play bowl games in shreveport, el paso and nashville if he's lucky.

Some of that info is absolutely meaningless, especially this year. A lot of prospects get a default ranking simply because they are confirmed to exist. Little to nothing else is known about them and they haven't been evaluated. There is a ton of top 300 types in the country with default rankings of 84-86 because the recruiting services are gawking at top 100 guys.

Y'all got talent to turn it around this year. Good QB, RB and your defense should be good. Just gotta stay healthy. Your overall talent is better than Tennessee. They have better linemen but your defensive talent is better. Just got to stay healthy.

You guys generally recruit at least at a borderline top 25 level. Your current class is basically Vanderbilt/ECU level.

Definitely, but the offer lists of almost every player are Carolina, Arkansas and CUSA/American schools.

So the rankings may be worthless, but while you may have 1-2 kids you like that others haven't found, it's generally not great for your entire class to be that way.

After the top-247 or so, I don't think it really matters, because I don't think they really know.

I think there will be some transfers from him and possibly Lloyd too. Muschamp is a great recruiter but SC seems to be a program that is reverting back to before Holtz. Not something I want to see from any schools UGA plays.

South Carolina really fumbled to take a next step after Spurrier IMO. They had so much momentum in the early 10’s and it fizzled out under Spurrier and Muschamp just isn’t a good coach.

I know their history but think they’re a potential power, though probably not any time soon with the guys coaching around them

Pessimism aside, I am confident that recruiting will pick up if Muschamp manages to win enough games to cool off that hot seat.

Their current recruiting (at least on offense) seems to revolve around finding the fastest guys that nobody is really fighting over and just coaching up all the other aspects.

Honestly I think it's giving an interesting glance into what kind of offense Bobo is looking to run. I expect he knows he can't run what he did in UGA without Georgia's talent level. I think he understands that he's going to have to do something a little different and find guys that he won't have to battle clemson, Tenn, Bama, etc for that fit.

Or maybe I'm setting myself up for another year or two of pure misery, who can say.

Yea - I was really shocked because 'Champ, for all his coaching faults, generally seems to do a great job of recruiting both high level kids and solid under the radar kids who then garner a lot of interest. And maybe some of these kids are those kids, they just haven't starting getting that interest yet.

Bobo was a great hire.

I’d be shocked if Burch transferred. Entire family just moved to Columbia. Wouldn’t make much sense unless they all wanted to relocated, find new jobs, etc. He will play three and head to the NFL if all goes well.

The HC is the direct problem! But add the AD too!
