Lost 2 to LSU, Alabama, and Auburn, one to Clemson. One stayed and went to Georgia Tech.

Not trying to be a smart arse but what the hell happened?

I feel like we’ve had this conversation every year since Kirby has been here and UGA still lands a top 1-3 class.

But in short, the state of Georgia, specifically metro Atlanta, is filled with transplants who feel no loyalty to the state and are willing to leave. They didn’t grow up UGA fans like kids in La grow up dreaming of going to LSU.

I'm guessing the response would be - They signed 10 of the Top 60 players in the country

- 3 from FL
- 2 from GA
- 1 from CA
- 1 from DC
- 1 from NV
- 1 from AZ
- 1 from LA

You see this in Alabama some years. 2021 is one of those years. Alabama will only sign 5 from in-state and only 3 of the top 10. But still a top two class nationally.

It's funny how certain metro areas seem to attract more transplants. When there is a recession in the country, I have read that the southeast typically gets hit last and recovers first, making it a great place to live job wise.

I've heard some great things about Nashville and how nice it is, so I would guess moving there is just a bonus.

Not trying to make it political but there's a lot of people that are from other States that have voted in laws and they can no longer afford to live there. The same people will vote the same way and have to move again in 10 years after they destroy the city unfortunately.

I get it. And I have seen the same thing happen. Amazing how people will move to a place and want to change it politically, socially, culturally so it looks just like the place they wanted to move from.

I kind of equate it to people that want to swap everything over to Socialism even though it really hasn't worked anywhere else.

Yeah. You're right. We are starting to dip our toes in politics. (I am, at least )

We signed studs from other states. Why does it matter what state they are from?

And it’s not like we don’t try to land the guys in our backyard. We start recruiting them sometimes as early as 8th grade but they don’t want to stay in Georgia. We are bordered by major programs some of which are closer to the kids home than Athens.
West Georgia kids are close enough to Auburn and Bama and a lot of times grow up rooting for those two teams. North Georgia kids are close to UT , USC and Clemson. South Georgia kids are close to FSU and the Florida schools and we are one of the top producers of talent in the country.

I've lived in both places and culturally it would be very hard to be farther apart.
The biggest thing they both have in common is outdoor sports. Hunting, fishing etc.

I like this actually...maybe Pitt can get down there and snag a couple of the 200+ 3* or better players

You may want to pay attention to your own back yard. Looks like LSU may have problems holding on to the states top talent. Georgia has 6 instate commits with a .9300 rating or higher(top 15). Four commits in the top ten and leads for the #3 and #10 instate recruits. That would give us 6 of the states top 10. That looks like Successful instate recruiting to me.

The state of Georgia puts out so many players, it's impossible to take them all. We're not tennessee.

How is this different than LSU? Out of top 10 in LA:
LSU 3
UGA 2
ATM/AU/Colorado/TCU/FSU 1 each

and that's fine and well but the reason you guys get some slack is that some UGA fans claim that Kirby is going to "lock down the state" which was and is ridiculous.

Yeah, you haven't seen many if any at all who have said that since 2017 when we pretty much did. After that we've taken a different approach and cast a wider net nationally first.
