Just a heads up WestCoast, it's never good to be relying on incoming Freshman to change your program. Exhibit A: Ole Miss

You mean its stupid of me to look at a bunch of great talent coming in and assume theyll have an impact on the program? And a LSU fan saying that is priceless

No numb nuts. We've been recruiting well for over a decade. A&M, much like Ole Miss, just showed up to the party.

Use your swamp brain and show me where I said Myles Garrett and this class would cause a&m to win next year. I'll wait

I like you man. You're kind of like my grumpy old neighbor. He's a USCw fan though.

Well good thing kids aren't on campus for a decade, or we wouldn't stand a chance.

Immediately, no. However:

2012 class:

RB Trey Williams (projected starter for 2014)
WR Derel Walker (starter for 2013 - graduated)
OL Germain Ifedi (starter for 2013)
OL Mike Matthews (starter for 2013)
DL Julien Obioha (starter in 2012 and 2013)
DL Alonzo Williams (starter for 2013)
DB Devante Harris (starter for 2012 and 2013)

2013 class:

QB Kenny Hill (projected starter for 2014)
WR Laquivionte Gonzalez (projected starter for 2014)
WR Ricky Seals-Jones (projected starter for 2014)
TE Cameron Clear (starter for 2013)
DL Daeshon Hall (projected starter for 2014)
DL Isaiah Golden (starter for 2013)
LB Darion Claiborne (starter for 2013)
LB Jordan Mastrogiovanni (starter for 2013)
DB Noel Ellis (projected starter for 2014)
DB Kameron Miles (projected starter for 2014)

That's 15/24 starters from Sumlin's first 2 classes alone. It's very likely that the only starters in 2014 that were signed before Sumlin will be:

WR - Malcome Kennedy (class of 2010)
LT - Cedric Ogbuehi (class of 2010)
LG - Jarvis Harrison (class of 2010)
DT - Ivan Robinson (class of 2010)
LB - A.J. Hilliard (transfer from TCU)
DB - Deshazor Everett (class of 2011)
P - Drew Kaser (class of 2011)
K - Josh Lambo (transfer from D2 school in Wisconsin)

Sumlin is killing it on the trail but at some point he will have to show results or the "it" factor he has will wear off. Wouldn't you agree?

Sure. That being said, a top 5 finish is a good result. Spin it however you like, but that's a damn good season. While this season was a disappointment, one can look at our defensive woes and see very easily how this dramatically affected our overall performance. At this point, the analysis moves to the second phase - what is Sumlin doing to improve things? Obviously, our defensive recruiting is picking up in a big way.

If we continue on with 8-4 seasons for 5 years, there are some problems, but for now there's no reason to think things are headed in the wrong direction.

I am not spinning it and giving credit. I just know that being a fan of a team that has Top 5's and really good seasons that Division Titles and NC's are what matters after a few years. Really nothing else.

congrats Aggies. You'll use Speedy better than we would have anyway. Still won't prevent your 4th straight loss to LSU though

Have to win to keep momentum, no one questions that. The odds of winning when you bring in elite talent though are much better than without though.

A couple of years ago it was a big deal at A&M to land a 4 Star and a "stop the presses" deal if we got a 5 Star. Now the norm is 4 Stars with the expectation of at least a few 5 Stars to go with a couple of 3 Stars that the coaches see something in.

Is that any different than LSU or Bama? Nope. That's kind of the point though. The talent gap between A&M and the elite of the SEC is closing fast. It closes faster because while A&M is still light on their Jr/Sr classes (esp with Evans and Manziel leaving) the same problem happens at other SEC programs. The best kids leave at 3 years for the League.

Doesn't mean we will win and if we don't win we won't sustain it but it's hard not to be excited about the future as an Aggie.

Well then, the only real conclusion is that ours will be too!
