When I watch NFL and college defenses on TV, it seems like some Defensive players will move before the snap from behind the line to the end of the D line and vice-versa, so, I guess that these two positions are related and interchangeable in some schemes.

I'm not trolling. I did a whole thread on this awhile back. Actually most LSU fans agreed with me there was a problem with linebacker recruiting.
Jesus, LSU your class is awesome, I'm not disputing that. HOWEVER if Saban exclusively ignored or couldn't land an area of need, I'd be pretty fumed. In fact, I've been pretty upset at Saban for not getting a good kicker for a bunch of years. Hell we lost a good one this year and I'm upset about it.
Some of you need thicker skin. Chill out, I was making an observation.
That being said, some have come in here and explained that some recruits are more likely to be linebackers at the next level instead of edge rushers like their current positions suggest. So there's that.

Some kids do play out of position in high school for the betterment of their team.

Again if you need more proof :
2013: One 4 star LBer (Beckwith), one other 4 star moved to fullback, later dismissed (Jones), one 3 star (Riley)
2014: One 5 star transferred (Garrett), one 3 star (Alexander)
2015: 0 linebacker commits
2016: One 4 star linebacker (Divinity)
Now ignoring players switching positions, from a true linebacker position standpoint, in four classes LSU has:
Two 4 star linebackers
Two 3 star linebackers
That just seems extraordinary to me.

Their transition to a 3-4 with no LBs will be seamless.

Nah, Coyote is right about the recent past. But LSU fans know why. Chavis and Brick. This year we did better when you look at where some of the guys project to play instead of where they are listed.
Fowler did hurt though.

2016, once again, has about 5 linebackers.
We're gettting there but, as of recently the recruiting in that area has been dreadful

Again
We have 4 LBs this class:
Divinity
Thornton
White
Anthony
Players move around positions all the time from high school to college. Especially when it's much different schematically. White played LB in high school though.

Doesn't White want to play RB?
When is Sci Martin announcing/signing? He'll be a good Jack in a year or two when he puts on a little weight

Probably after Mardi Gras. Still expect it to be LSU. The hold up was that his mom had some health issues recently and he wanted her to be there when he signs.

That's a combo of having Chavis sitting on his arse and not even actually wanting to recruit the guys that Frank Wilson put in front of him and Steele focusing more on the 2017 class than the 2016 class. As well as the normal dearth of LB in the state.
Chavis was so anti recruiting that Beckwith was sold to him as a DE and Debo Jones and Donnie Alexander were sold to him as safeties. Duke Riley was recruited entirely by Frank Wilson. Chavis did not think that any of them could play LB for him. Other guys that he didn't think could play LB for him were Denzel Devall, Tim Williams, and Kenny Young. I have to think that is out of laziness rather than just plain bad evals, because you can't last that long in the industry being that bad at evaluating talent.

Recently said he will do what it takes to get on the field early. He will likely split time at FB and LB as a frosh. He has elite straight line speed for his weight (laser 4.43 at 260) but the knock on him at LB is his lateral quickness.

Said when he signed he actually brought up to the coaches about playing LB. RB he likes to play the most but he will play whatever to get on the field faster, and that's definitely LB. A 6'0, 260 pound ILB that runs a 4.5 would be pretty sick.
The fact is this season at RB we will have:
Leonard Fournette
Derrius Guice
Darrel Williams
Nick Brosette
David Ducre (FB too)
Lanard Fournette
There's just no playing time to be had currently.

Still definitely hopeful on our front and we absolutely have the room for him. He could make a 5th LB this class depending how big he is when he plays. Believe he's around 235 right now. I could see him staying around that and standing up at OLB here or gaining some weight and becoming the next Lewis Neal playing around 260 at DE.
We will start to show some 3-4 looks this year but the base defense will still likely be 4-3/4-2-5. Aranda has some crazy looks too where he will have nobody with their hand down at times and it looks like there's 5-6 LBs on the field.
