Not saying that the additional 5 scholarships will address the issue of losing your starting quarterback, but depth could be an issue going into the champ game.

Imagine lsu losing burrow or Uga losing bennet in the quarter final. You’re done.

but I would imagine you need more oline and dLine as the post season would wear some teams down.

The NFL plays way more games with much smaller rosters.

Posted thread in rant but in theory it could mean 17 games with Championship game loss but 12 team qualify.

More football scholarships means you have to add more girl's scholarships because of Title 9. Football should be removed from the Title 9 equation. Of course, girls' karate, kung fu, kick boxing might sell some tickets. Maybe KD vs Tri Delta mud wrestling?

No they don’t. The gameday and active roster is smaller, but they can also replace players as they get injured on that roster.

NFL teams dress more than 53 players over the course of the season.

There is no hard cap on NFL rosters, so it’s not comparable.

That said, I think 85 scholarships is fine.

If anything I see the number of scholarships going down especially with NIL. I think the number may go to 75 in the near future.
Your fringe players are going to end up being walk-ons or simply not playing football anymore.

This is true but they are not developing HS freshmen with that roster. Just about 1/4 to 1/2 of scholarships in College are for guys that will contribute or start in a year or two that are not ready yet.

Plus, the NFL has the ability to sign FA's throughout the year and have 16 guys on a practice squad of players they can call up at anytime to come up for injuries etc. They just can't have but with 55 on roster and 53 active but they have a larger pool of players to use.

I think it should go down to at least 80 preferably 75. The rich are getting richer, needs to be more parody.

85 is too many, imho. I’d cut it to 70
