Watch every t.u. commit gain a star in Rivals and they become the #3 composite.

Not this cycle, I heard we moved the budget over to final 2019 poll rankings & loaded up there instead.

No I didn't. In the final 2019 rankings, every one of their commits went up an average of 150 composite points and their overall ranking went from 11 to 5 without any commitments or games played.

Something doesn't add up here, maybe check your settings?

On your computer.

Thinking recruiting sites specifically boost Texas recruits because they're Texas recruits and then taking that to a shared board is peak aggie. Yikes.

These threads are the best. Love the excuses everyone rushes to make when one of their guys falls

When asked if he cares about recruiting rankings Urban Meyer said: “If they are keeping score, we want to win”.

But I’m with you on the insignificant individual drops & subsequent mental gymnastics. It all adds up but it’s rankings for 18 year olds, half of which will be never heard from again by March.

Arian isn’t going to be a five star anywhere

He'd have to be moved down the rankings more than 4 spots on 247 to *not* end up a 5* at this point (#28 in 247's own rankings). I have no idea where he ends up, but just some context for why someone might say that.

And he’s ranked 25th by ESPN but they only gave out 17 5 stars but that’s two services putting him in blue chip territory. He also shine at the camp and was the fastest player possibly in the country this year.

Jalin Hyatt ran the fastest 40 at any of the openings this year.

Arian Smith won fastest man at UA game and has ran a 10.3 100 and is a legit track athlete. Not sure how that correlates to a 40 time but it’s damn fast.

I can’t find a 40 time on Arian but the guy he beat while looking back at him was Chris Tyree who ran a 4.38 at the opening. So Arian is fast fast. :)

Hyatt ran a 10.4 100m his sophomore year. Regardless both are blazers.

Yeah I think Arians best time this year was 10.31. Imagine being that fast and then trying to race Matthew Boling who got under 10. Hyatt’s 4.3 time at the opening is legit. That’s a great time for a young athlete.

Our fans are enamored with Arian Smith's speed, but I'd rank him near or at the bottom of our receiver recruits this year. That's just my personal opinion from watching film of all of them. I'm very happy with this class of receivers, including Smith, but he has a lot of work to beat these other guys out.

When people say “watching film” I assume they are taking highlights in the internet, is that correct? If so, I don’t think that’s a very valid way to “rank” anyone even if it’s all we fans have (for the most part).

When I watch "film" for receivers, I don't try to judge their hands too much, because nobody ever shows the drops. I don't care about how many yards they had, or touchdowns, because that's (to a large extent) a team/scheme function. I look at their routes, their cuts, their body control, contested catches in traffic, aggressiveness. Those are skills or innate attributes, not plays, and they can be assessed even on highlight videos.

It's not like watching complete games (sometimes they do have those on youtube) but if you look at highlights of this year's class of UGA receivers, Smith looks furthest from a productive receiver. That's my opinion and it could be wrong.

What a shock: Haynes King now a 3 star on Rivals and Darvon Hubbard, now that he looks like he's A&M-bound, is now a 3 star as well.
