I'm no math wizard, but when he says he wants to be closer to home than Fayetteville, would 7 hours not be closer than 13 hours? That's nearly twice as long. He didn't lie...7 hours is closer than 13 hours. Perception is key. Arky fans tryin to fit the narrative.

When you have a sick family member you say you want to be close to and you're 13 hours away currently, would you move within a few hours of them or a day's drive of them? Just curious which makes more sense to you and what really fits a correct narrative here.

I attended college...i know how this works

He's not going home on the weekends

His family can afford to travel

He's "potentially" a one-and-done and will be in Starkville till after SEC Tourney

Assuming he's as good as many think, he will be there no more than 8 months..

Congrats on the pickup, but it's not our narrative

Did you ever consider that he didn't like any of the schools within 2 hours of his dad? Everyone in this thread is acting like 13 hours and 7 hours away is only a slight difference. You are reading his quote how you want to take it. He said he wanted to be closer....now he's 6 fricking hours closer. I don't understand why it's so hard to see the difference.

Also, 7 hours is not a days drive...13 hours (more than half a day is). I don't know what you've been smokin.

Ya it's State fans that are salty. Not all the Arkansas fans claiming he's getting paid. He's a legacy. Maybe that's just where he wants to be. All I know is our class is going to be stacked with 2 more top 100 players expected soon.

You seriously dont see why going still a day's drive away considering his excuse is a little out of whack? That's fine if he didn't like other schools, being closer with his sick dad had nothing to do with this decision though. He's still not nearly close enough to make a difference. You dont move over 7 hours away to be "closer to a sick relative". Not sure how you dont get that.

8 hour drive with stops, that's a day's drive. Leave at 9 AM CST, wouldn't get home until 6 PM EST...that would be the day's drive. Yes, it's closer than 13 hours, no it's not "Being close with a sick family member".

Like the Arky poster said, he's in college playing basketball, so he isn't routinely going home on the weekends, but, just assuming, get out of class at noon on Friday, he'd be home by 9:00 eastern. Go to church with the family on Sunday, head out by 1:00, pick up an hour on the way back and back to Starkville by 8:00 Sunday night. Also sounds like the family's ability to go see him was a factor.

"

Coach (Howland) allowing his stretch-fours to handle the basketball, setting four or five screens for (them) and create some mismatches," Al told The Clarion-Ledger's Will Sammon. "It's something we looked at, not stifling Reggie's game.

quote:

"Coach's style allows him to show his versatility on both ends of the court."

Per Al, Howland also emphasized how aggressive Reggie needs to be on defense, which was something that appealed to the family.

quote:

"Reggie saw the need," Al said. "They also emphasized how important they thought he would be if he came. ... He understands how good those guys are already."

Nick Weatherspoon, the former Velma Jackson standout and a four-star point guard, is set to enter his first season with the Bulldogs. His brother, Quinndary, averaged 16.5 points last season, which led MSU and was seventh in the SEC.

And Lamar Peters was an All-SEC Freshman last season.

"Reggie sees that," Al said. "And they can help bring him along too."

"
quote:

No. 1, I think the coaching staff did a tremendous job of recruiting Reggie and our family and made us feel very comfortable," he said. "I think that for us and Reggie, being away from home and close enough to reach out to him (was key)."

quote:

He also said Reggie took a liking to the college atmosphere in Starkville.

"He really kind of fell in love with that," Al said. "Small, but big enough."

This is the dumbest shite I've ever read. Apparently 6 hours closer isn't closer at all. Good to know. That is all he said...he wanted to be closer. Is 7 hours not closer than 13 hours? Is time relative? Please enlighten me.

Hypothetically and God willing this doesn't happen, what if he gets a call and someone tells him his dad has less than a day to live. Does the 6 hour difference mean nothing then?

Try and comprehend a little better next time qand it wont likely be "the dumbest shite" you've ever read.

I said multiple times it's closer, but not to the point of making his reason for decommitting legitimate. Again, if he indeed wanted to be close to a sick relative, 8 hours away isn't the answer. Apparently only some Moo State fans cant seem to grasp this concept.

So, as a parent, I'd look at it in the following way, what could my child reasonably and safely drive in daylight hours without having to make more than one stop. Take out a compass and put it to an atlas to see what falls within that geographical area, then down select based on schools that had what we were looking for. Frankly I don't care if that's the reason or not, but it's ridiculous that people are automatically ruling out the possibility that was a primary factor with the other stuff being secondary.

Not really, we got the 5* player, y'all got the vacancy. I couldn't care less about what you believe to be a reasonable excuse for him to decommit.

That is fine, that is even a possibility. That is not something everyone would do though. Some would say anything more than 3 hours is too far.

It isn't ridiculous to speculate that it wasn't, to come out and say it played no factor at all and he is lying about the health of his father would be ridiculous.

Player decommits and Arkansas fans think he is using his sick dad as an excuse to cover up a pay for play scandal, and we're the ones who are misguided. Lmgdmfao. Merry flipmas.

If we finish with those 2 guys we expect to finish with, we'll finish significantly higher in the rankings than Arkansas. Unless y'all add more commits. I honestly don't know how many y'all plan on taking this class.
