So, UF got a commit from that DLman that was 390 lbs. UGA apparently is about to get a commit from an OT out of NJ that is 6'8" 371...whoa. Miss st has a commit from a kid that is 365, SC has one that is 365. Gees...I remember the day that if you had 2 or 3 starting OLmen that were 290-300, your OL was considered 'huge'. Nowadays, if your entire OL were to average 300 even, it would be considered a lightweight OLine.

Even tho that’s good, I wish we all had 6’7” 315 lbs OT’s, 371 lbs is too much. We got a DT around that weight we are trying to get down to 320 lbs playing weight.

Some of these guys can carry that weight now and be athletic. Some (most) are just fat.

That's an interesting thing, and I semi agree with you. But I remember when "The Refrigerator" first was playing everybody was saying 300 LBS is too big. Now it is expected, and it would seem to be the norm. Over the years people just get bigger. You have to think at some point that much weight would have severe negative consequences on health, but so far it doesn't appear to be that way. Plus it's not that burdensome of weight to carry when you are 6'8", I guess.

Mt Cody in 2008. He was 6-5 440 when he enrolled

He slimmed down to 380.

Hopefully those kids can get down to a reasonable weight.

Being that heavy is not good for anyone’s body

It’s really unreal…and it’s talent too, kids these days…the ones that are focused, are just so much better technically than the ones before them. Can they perform under pressure with increased skill from their adversaries? Be fun to watch.

I remember when the LSU linemen were my size (6' 3" & 240) or smaller back in the day.

But, the big uglies make the difference...

There's been so many advancements in nutrition and S&C, kids are coming out of highschool now looking like what seniors used to look like 20 years ago. I remember around the early 90s, because was still in college, UGA had a nose guard named Donnie Maib. We were playing Miss St one Sat and I remember one of the announcers say that Maib was 'the strongest player on the team, with a 410 bench press.'
I remember thinking, 'Whoa, that's pretty impressive!' But shoot, today our punter probably could put up 400.

We signed a DT in last year’s class who was 370 and he did a handstand in Pittman’s office and got an offer on the spot

To whoever down voted that post, what exactly did I say that offended you? Or is it just that I'm a UGA fan? Gees, I thought all the posters like you hung out on the rant board...
