Josh Bynes won a National Championship and Super Bowl (not multiple, but still a selling point).

He went undrafted and AU has a completely different defensive staff then when he was there. If you were in Rashaan's shoes and Gus tried to sell you that line, I'm sure it would really influence you

What's funny about that? With this defensive class, and Gus running the offense, Auburn will be right there every year.

It's funny because Alabama is actually "right there" every year. AU offers Rashaan Evans no "better chance" at a national championship than does Bama. When has Auburn posted back-to-back seasons that support this?

Thus

Depends on the starting salary. I'd take a leave of absence from my job for NFL minimum wage and sideline tickets for a season.

Yes, but it is still a staff with a history that puts players in the NFL. Silly arguments on both sides going on in here.

Bassmaster, who are we kidding. Alabama has been on an amazing run, but that run has only been over a five year period. They were mired in mediocrity-or less-before that period for over a decade. It happens to everyone, but you pretend like it hasn't happened in T'town.
As for Rashaan, I'll be glad when the circus ends and grown men stop analyzing the every move of an 18 year old.

It's ridiculous. I have to agree with AJ, this recruiting is maddness.

Players go undrafted all the time and still make a name for themselves.

And Gus Malzahn can still sell him coaching during the time Josh Bynes and he were there, regardless if he coaches another side of the ball. Coaches do it all the time. At very least, he can sell himself having a huge impact on Josh Bynes' life.

Agree, but if he does and the kid uses that in conversation with a Bama coach don't you think they'll bring up the umpteen LBers they've had drafted in recent years?

Also, was Courtney Upshaw on the 2011 team? If so, he also won a BCSNC one year and an SB the next. But he got drafted in the top 2 or 3 rounds and got millions guaranteed.

I think AU's smart play with this kid is about being someone special at the local university who can push them to the next level. If they try to go head to head with Bama on LBs to NFL then that's not overly wise, IMO.

I don't disagree with this statement; and I lived through the days of mediocrity and understand it is cyclical. I do disagree with the poster who said that Auburn offers Rashaan a BETTER chance to win a MNC than does Alabama, right now, which is the only time that matters in terms of incoming recruits. Auburn could have easily made that sale after 2004. Not now.

And I definitely agree with the end of the circus. The circus is leaving town Wednesday, thankfully.

Not trying to be nitpicky, but it's only been 4 LBs drafted while Saban has been at Alabama. One of those 4 committed to Mike Shula (was a top 50 player in the country out of HS).

Let's not sit here and pretend every LB that lines up on 'bama's defense under Saban gets drafted.

Not a Bama expert, but McClain, Hightower, Upshaw, and Johnson so far, right? With Mosely an obvious first rounder and Hubbard likely to be drafted somewhere, too. The other kid they have coming back is going to be picked in top 3 rounds next year too.

That will be six by this years draft. How many Star position players has Johnson had drafted over same period of time? I am not flaming, btw, I genuinely don't know.

yeah. we don't have to do that. Bucc will do that for them.

You ready for it???

....................Here comes..................

Meh. Bama has a long history much earlier than Saban's tenure, of LBs, guys like Derrick Thomas, Lee Roy Jordan, Cornelius Bennett, Woodrow Lowe, Barry Krauss, Rich Wingo, EJ Junior, Emanuel King, George Bethune, Antonio London, Dwayne Rudd, Kieth McCants, DeMeco Ryans, Jarrett Johnson, there are others who never saw a start or played sparingly

Saban has 3, 4 if you count Rolando but like previously mentioned was coming to Bama anyway and will have 2 this yr added

It certainly wasn't the case the first few years of his tenure but starting to trend more toward that now with Mosley likely being a top 15 - 20 pick and Hubbard being somewhere in the 1st 3 rounds I'm assuming and if DePriest came out he'd be in the same range, likely a 1st rounder next yr barring any type of injury.

I said all that to say this, Bama has a history and a track record to sell right now with LBs making it to the NFL, Auburn doesn't, I assume they will under Ellis in a yr or two just not the case now, AU needed some rebuilding on D and Ellis had them balling out toward the end, he will get it there.

ETA: I feel much better

Auburn has the same amount of LB's in the NFL as Bama before counting this upcoming draft.

I take that back...Auburn has 6 playing LB and Bama has 5

EJ has been at 3 schools over that time. But just looking at the depth charts, drafts, and NFL rosters, 2 players that were listed as SPURs (STARs) while EJ was at USCe, were drafted and 3 are on NFL rosters right now. Bama has had only 1 Jack LB drafted since 09 and he is the only one on a NFL Roster. All the other LBs drafted played a different LB position than what Evans is being recruited for. Bama has 4 different LB positions.

I looked....and I saw

It's a moot point to me because he would get to the NFL if he went and played 4 years at Alabama A&M like a friend of mine.........Robert Mathis

NFL finds em where ever they are

Antonio Allen & DeVonte Holloman were drafted.

Not sure who the 3rd is.

ETA: Darian Stewart went undrafted but currently plays for the Rams.
