Riddick for Auburn was a top 15 player when he was committed to UGA and was predicted to flip to Bama. Then he flipped to Auburn instead, and he dropped to #69.

And I can assure you, Georgia still would have taken him after the drop.

I mean, people have conspiracy theories that Alabama and Georgia gets bumps. They also get kids whose ratings drop.

And if the ratings are wrong and artificially inflated, you would think Alabama and Georgia would not win. I mean, if the kids ratings are artificially inflated.

No offense, Finch (OP) but didn't you start a whole thread talking about a kid that dropped in rating after he left Georgia to go to Florida? How about now that Filsaime left Florida and went to Texas and dropped 30 spots. Seems obvious Florida kids get a bump, right?

Fact is that there are something like 10,000 kids that play High School football in a given year. The difference between #1 and #50 is going to be very small. The difference between #50 and #200 is also going to be very small.

Fans need to learn to trust that their coaches evaluate players correctly and quit angsting (Yes, a made up word) over where a kid is rated. It's fun to keep up with recruiting rankings, but in the long run meaningless.

Cue the recruiting shills to tell us how paranoid we are lol

See my post. You are. Explain to us how recruiting ranking affect the true abilities of a player. If a player is Ranked #500 and is really the best player in a class does he suddenly lose his abilities?

If a kid is ranked #1 in a class but is actually horrible does he suddenly play like the #1 player in the country? Rankings mean nothing outside of people bragging they had the #1 class. Yet, typically teams that finish in the top 5 in the nation compete for the National Championship. It's odd for rankings that are so often wrong, huh?

I love the truth mentioned here. People are nitpicking about minute differences in rankings. Napier, like all top level coaches has a baseline athletic profile for the players he thinks will be able to perform in the SEC. That’s why his recruiting classes have been so small. He can’t get enough of those players to commit. He’s not going to sign players that don’t meet the baseline just to fill a class. The goal is to be like UGA and AL where you’re signing 25+ of those players class after class instead of 20

If you don't care about the topic why did you open this thread and bother to respond? If I see a topic I am not interested in I typically skip over the entire thread. I do not respond to every topic I don't care about.

Sayin dropped 15 spots, right after he left Bama. Two Bama guys who stayed elevated to five stars.

That’s not entirely true on Sayin. Only 247 dropped him. He’s still the top QB per ON3 and ESPN. The #2 QB per Rivals. His industry ranking is still #2 overall QB.

I believe 247 also elevated Jaylen Mbakwe and Zay Mincey. But again, already 5 stars on other services. ON3 actually has both still at 4 star.

247 is not owned or operated by Shannon Terry anymore. And hasn’t been since 2020. If this was a conspiracy, wouldn’t ON3 be doing this?

Glad to know the Bama bump still exists post-saban, guess that means nothing else will change

Anyone know the reason for the drop?

Xavier Filsaime (S), Brandon Baker (OT) and Kobe Black (CB) were all rated 5* before they committed to Texas.

No biggie.
