#4 Nationally on 247
Interestingly though, it seems loaded with skill position and not much in the defensive trenches:
#1 & #4 WR (and # 33)
#2, #5, & #8 CB
#8 QB
Offensive line:
#14 IOL
3 4* OTs
Only one defensive line player and two linebackers; no defensive tackles.

They took a pretty small class. I assume they are going to load up and fill any holes with the portal again. As long as Phil Knight is alive, Oregon will be in the playoffs and a serious contender.. perhaps even after he dies if he sets up his will the right way.

The Big 10 shouldn’t have given these assholes a lifeline

Based on ranking; probably should have been more specific.

They have the 4th highest ranked recruiting class, with only 20 signees.

Any good team that can run the ball will give them more than they can handle.
They better have heisman level play at QB every single year.

This class has the #8 QB. Not sure it's THAT tier, but they at least signed a top 10 kid at the position.

I wonder if the strategy was to load up on young skill players (that often contribute early) and then build the defensive line (where young players struggle to dominate early) with top-tier portal players that already have college size.

When you have a bank account like Oregon has, that is not a bad strategy

You start tampering with too many rosters and you just might get the Will Wade treatment.

we were inline to get maybe the most underrated defensive end in this class, and they swooped in and got him last minute

100% on money.
Not too many places have a better recent track record with DE than Mizzou, but he picks Oregon, of all places?
Kinda like Dakorien Moore.

Herman made this same mistake. It doesn't end well

Definitely an interesting path.
Hard for kids to pass up NIL money that's assured before you've had to prove anything.

They already have Dante Moore, 5 star QB as a redshirt freshman. They don't need help at QB.

Imo, kids bust way more often in the trenches, compared to skill players.. and it is hard to convince a really skilled player to transfer. There is experienced good DL talent to be found in the portal.
16 DL in the portal last year with a 92 grade or higher.
36 DL in the portal last year with a 90 grade or higher.
86 DL in the portal last year with a 88 grade or higher.
On top of that, it's hard for a 4 or 5 star true freshman to come in and contribute on the DL. It happens, no doubt with studs.. but there aren't many like that each year. South Carolina seems to have a good eye for talent.
I don't hate the idea.

The ranking is based on commits
Texas 24 commits, 24 signed, 0 unsigned
UGA 27 commits, 23 signed, 4 unsigned
Bama 21 commits, 20 signed, 1 unsigned
Oregan 21 commits, 19 signed, 2 unsigned
If the unsigned flip, ranking could changed

Oregon is going to be a force in the NIL days, we need to get used to it.
Nike money machine is officially on full blast.

Pretty surprising considering they have a defensive HC like Lanning.
Maybe they're planning on hitting the portal or feel confident in who they have on the roster already on that side of the ball.

Does seem like they use the portal to stock up the lines
