Yet another update from the kid I have been receiving grief for touting to be on the lookout for in the 2026 class.

Last Friday in the Quarter Finals he threw for 334 yards and 5 TDs against Memphis University School...which is impressive. His number at halftime (before they took the foot off the gas)...13-16 for 318 yards and 4 tds.

Nice maybe if you post a few more times about him he will make the On3 300

Maybe. I think the only thing holding him off is his offer from Ole Miss.

ETA...right now, he's 1 of 2 QBs listed on Ole Miss' 2026 24/7 Recruiting Page.

ughhh... thats in Tennessee. We've offered 22 qbs in his class, and he's about the worst-rated one

Good luck to your son's friend tho...

Update on the kid I have been hyping on this thread...he committed to Louisville, so I will stop updating on here. If he has numbers this year like he had in '24 (2,700 yards, 31tds, 3 ints, State Runner-up), I could see him moving up from a 3-star to a 4-star...but the only school that would have a shot at him decommitting would be Ole Miss...and with 7 QBs on their roster, I don't see that happening.

ETA...just found out he got his 4th star from Rivals yesterday. He's now their 24th rated QB in the '26 class.

My periodic update on the kid I catch so much grief about. He was MVP of the Under Armor Next New Orleans event a couple of weeks back. I still think he's underrated and should land someplace better than Louisville.

LSU just added a commitment from top 100 CB, Havon Finney out of California.

Ok...past due for my periodic update on the kid I've been touting over recent months in the '26 class. It looks like he was invited to the National Elite 11. Even though he committed to Louisville a few months back, it looks like Ohio State is trying to poach him.

To update things (again)...

Per Rivals "Louisville commit Briggs Cherry has moved all the way up No. 13 nationally at the position after some terrific offseason performances and rave reviews by 7-on-7 coaches."

So...this kid is now ranked 13th by Rivals, and the highest current Ole Miss Commit is Rees Wise at #32.

I'm not sure who Ole Miss is in on that ranks higher than him, but I do think that he would have been a good fit in Kiffin's system. I guess they just settled on the Wise kid, since Cherry was the "about the worst rated" QB they offered and he's higher that the Reb's current commit.

Still not sure how he is going to do in the final On3 300...but he was the #6 QB (according to si.com) in Day 1 of the Elite 11 finals. So, there's that.

quote:

Elite 11 Rankings - Day 1
1. Dia Bell, Texas Commit
2. Keisean Henderson, Houston Commit
3. Faizon Brandon, Tennessee Commit
4. Landon Duckworth, Uncommitted
5. Derek Zammit, Boise State Commit
6. Briggs Cherry, Louisville Commit
7. Travis Burgess, UNC Commit
8. Helaman Casuga, Texas A&M Commit
9. Jett Thomala, Alabama Commit
10. Dereon Coleman, Miami Commit
11. Will Griffin, Florida Commit

I hate to admit it, but you were right. Me posting more about him doesn't appear to have done much for his On3 rating...that being said, look at the #14 rated QB on the latest rivals.com list. I know you are glad that Ole Miss avoided this mistake when he was looking at them. He's only rated 18 spots ahead of Rees Wise. You sure dodged a bullet on that one.

The number 1 overall is committed to Miami...that will change when the season starts. Not saying at all he goes to Florida..but plenty of offers will be made and Miami can't compete with the money others will offer.

4 More posts from you about him and he still isn't relevant to the thread of the On3 300 for 2026

You can tell that the “scouting” is evolving now that money is involved. It’s no longer about who the best highlight tape guy is, but who’s going to command the highest dollar and you see if coaches have to pick, they pick elite lineman every time.
