Wow... that announcement was a Cyrus K. re-enactment minus the parents in the background. No emotion. No excitement. Nothing.
FTR, if Saban recruited the kid legally, Mom needs to get over it. So tired of parents trying to push their kids to a certain place.

honestly mama should have shut up and smiled for the moment and just voiced that opinion in private (as i am sure she is doing)

Mom wan ting him close to home doesn't bother me at all. She could have done a much better job of handling it on national tv. That should have been a private moment off the air.

Newberg on ESPN tweeted that he decided he wanted to go to Alabama two years ago. Not sure if that's true, or if it contradicts the girlfriend story.
This slowness is impeding the meltdown which is a shame.
I could definitely see him switching, but I don't think this was a spur of the moment thing. Just my opinion. It's more likely his mom has already said these things to him and he still chose Alabama.

His mom was acting pretty ignorant, if my mom wasn't happy for me I'd tell her to go away and I'll make the announcement without you. Either way, nice get, I think he stays. Bama's class is better than LSU's, I see this class going 3-1 against LSU, he'd love to spite his mom with that.

I think Parents should have a significant impact on their sons college choice.
However...
His mom was dead set on ruining his announcement. If she had to act like that why couldn't she have just asked him to delay and think about it or have excused herself from the set? I'm super glad to have him but I feel bad for Landon having his moment ruined by what hopefuly was just an overwhelming moment for his mother, and I feel bad for his mom because she obviously loves him... I think the best thing for her to do is just support him.

That had to have been disappointing for him, the way his mom reacted. Hopefully she'll come to her senses and be happy for him no matter his decision. He's about to go to a major college free of charge and have the chance to develop into a player to make millions of dollars and get an education.

This. I don't have any issue whatsoever with her wanting him to go to LSU but that was a bit much.
Granted it was hilarious in a really awkward way but not really the right way to handle things considering it was his moment.

That is actually a myth. There was a study done on this and it's the third recruiting class after the NC that is the best. That's why Bama is killing it this year. It's Auburns turn NEXT year.
