Honestly.... There's much worse than loosing a recruiting battle to bama. Even if we do loose, all you haters can suck our arse. UK football WILL be relevant soon...

Aww, yea.. forgot... :booboo: :booboo: :booboo: :booboo: :booboo: :booboo: :booboo: :booboo: :booboo: :booboo:

Figured this was worth the bump.

quote:

A recruitment that has taken Matt Elam to so many of the campuses most associated with big-time college football is in its final days, and the last stop is Lexington.

Elam — the highly touted defensive tackle from Elizabethtown — will be in town Saturday for one more unofficial visit to UK. He'll ride up with John Hardin Coach Chad Lewis, see the Wildcats' home basketball game against Georgia, meet with the UK football staff and head back home.

On Sunday, Elam plans to sit down with his family and go over a decision that he's been trying to reach for months. He had been planning to reveal his final choice — UK or Alabama — on national signing day, which is Feb. 5.

Lewis expects Elam to announce his decision before then.

"It's not set in stone yet, but I feel like he's going to possibly announce late in the week next week," Lewis told the Herald-Leader.

Honestly, I never expect to keep a local basketball player that Kentucky offers. Kentucky just has so much more to offer in bball. Just hope it works the other way too.
That being said, Matt Elam ....come on down

So much hand-wringing over an overrated guy who won't contribute for years.

You really think he won't contribute at Alabama or Kentucky "for years"? Most Alabama folks here recognize him as a need for y'all as much as a need for UK.

He's likely to get a decent amount of PT at either spot early on.

Man, I was sloshed that night.

Elam doesn't make or break our class by any means. Would be nice to have a guy who takes 2 blockers tho. Can't blame him if chooses bama by any stretch, wish him the best where ever he goes.

Saban would disagree with you. Bama doesn't have to take projects.

No. We had one take an OV this weekend. He didn't get an offer, but he might if we miss on some guys or have an academic casualty.

Matt Elam is about almost 200 pounds too heavy to be a DB.

"I just think at the end of the day that Matt is going to go where he feels comfortable. I think that's going to be the deciding factor from hearing Matt talk over this period. He wants to go where he feels comfortable, he wants to go where he feels like he's going to get developed to ultimately play in the NFL one day. That's every kid's goal and if it doesn't work out, it's important that he has a degree to fall back on."

Elam's coach
