So... One person making a ban bet (who clearly was on a trollfest) and a bunch of other people indicating that it's possible that we could try to flip him (and that our staff has been successful doing so in the past for long time committed prospects). Is that it?

The line that has been parroted most often of late is what DL mentioned. We will likely land one of: Cain, Sanders, Davis, or Emery. This is in line with what most UGA insiders have been saying. If you're taking one or two people as "half our fanbase saying a flip is imminent" then I've got some hyperbole to sell you...

What do you mean bump? I mean, they were #15, which is not very good. But it was his first year. Kirby's first year we were #3, which is actually pretty good, but not as good as last years, or what I think this years will be.

So I actually posted a thread about this a few months ago. It’s generally when a coach just finished his first full season, but regardless of how it went, he’s able to get better players than normal in the class because of the promise that “We’re going to turn this around with you” or “I just need my guys”, etc.

Kirby was able to sustain his success by having a good season, but he got a bump after a very mediocre year. You saw the same thing with Tom Herman and a couple other guys this past year despite not having great seasons either.

Bingo. You don't stop trying if he'll take your calls because who knows how the season plays out or the rest of the class, but I'd say he seems the least probable of the four at least right now.

And he was talking to a UGA reporter, you know, sometimes recruits love to play the game too.

Literally every LSU insider is saying there's nothing to worry about with Davis, he's all LSU and always has been, you guys are basing this all off an interview he did with a UGA reporter

I hope you realize how funny this is. FWIW, I don’t think any of us expect for Davis to be in the class. Unless the artist formerly known as Americus tells us that anyways. Then we’ll believe it

Gotcha! I must have missed your thread. As a whole I can agree with you. It does seem as though Orgeron had a poor first year recruiting class and is doing much better now, though. Maybe he is an outlier? I think he was known for his recruiting as an assistant coach. Anyway....I wasn't trying to argue with you....I just have seen the term a couple of times lately and was not entirely certain of what it meant.

Just looked at the thread. VERY interesting! Way too much sense in it, though. No wonder it only got one page. Honestly, sometimes I think this place doesn't want good interesting conversation. They only want constant trolls.

Emery has been to LSU so many times he has lost count. I’m totally fine with him going to GA. It’s been known he is going to enjoy the recruiting process, as he should. But Home will win out in the end Cain/Sanders you have more of a shot with. Although TX has a great shot with Cain too.

And last year was a bit of an anomoly since it was Orgeron's first full year.

If last year was an anomoly for Orgeron, it wasn't because it was his first year. It was more due to the fact that the talent in LA was a bit down, we needed a lot of help on both lines, there weren't a lot of top guys in our strongest recruiting areas, and we just weren't in it for many of the top guys outside of our primary areas. We were in it for Max Wray for a while, but that's about it.

I think what the staff did was smart, given the circumstances. Try to identify the best lower 4* and high 3* guys and take a shite load of them. While this isn't good for the class ranking, this can be a good way to find solid contributors and maybe even a few studs who were simply overlooked by the services.

As of now, I think Texas ends up with Cain, LSU ends up with Davis, and Florida ends up with Sanders. I would think LSU ends up with Emery, he's probably the one with the least certainty IMO. I like McGee's ability to pull in anyone, but LSU has a solid RB history in decent years, and more playing time available.

Moorhead has the history with Saquon, and UGA has had quite the stable of RBs in recent memory so it's tough to entirely count those two schools out.

I didn't take it that way at all. I've never seen you have anything other than good intentions with people unless they cross the line first. I think that for the most part, the third recruiting class tells you way more about a coach's recruiting ability than the 1st or 2nd.

The first one is kind of a holdover from whenever you took over. The second one is a bump. The 3rd one tends to be a little bit more telling for the long run. Obviously there are other factors like that year's talent in the state, and other stuff that goes into it, but that's just kind of what I've noticed.

After this weekend it would not surprise me if Emery commits on the spot, I think UGA has a great shot with this kid.

I thought everyone in attendance this weekend was committing on the spot?

ETA: And doesn't "on the spot" indicate as soon as offered? Emery has had an offer for a while now. You Georgia boys must be drunk on 5*s.

[quote]This is absolutely true. but the plan is to bring his family. If my kid were solid to a school and he wanted to go visit a school 500 miles away, there is no way I am getting into the car and driving that far for essentially nothing. You can believe what you want. Again. I am not saying it is a definite flip, but if I was LSU, I would be at least a little bit concerned.

Going on a 500 mile car trip in hot July is not a real incentive for a very close knit family and recruit to positively choose a football program.

Momma will be thinking this is a looooonnnnnngggggg way from home. I would have to make a 10-12 hour trip to see my son play. LSU is a 1 Hour and 15 minute drive. I could see every game in Baton Rouge with no hassle.

That 500 mile trip could seal the deal for LSU.

If these RB’s were from anywhere else but LA....you’d have a great shot. Win a natty soon and that could change. Saban is the only coach that has consistently taken talent from LA, there is a reason why ;-)

Yeah, but will that entire family be able to fly up there six games a year? Nope. LSU? Yep.
