I think that for the most part, the third recruiting class tells you way more about a coach's recruiting ability than the 1st or 2nd.

I agree, absolutely. It's always best to look at a track record of 3-4 years.

The first one is kind of a holdover from whenever you took over. The second one is a bump. The 3rd one tends to be a little bit more telling for the long run. Obviously there are other factors like that year's talent in the state, and other stuff that goes into it, but that's just kind of what I've noticed.

I've always respected your thoughts/posts. We tend to agree on most things, and I think we agree on this, too.

Going on a 500 mile car trip in hot July is not a real incentive for a very close knit family and recruit to positively choose a football program.

True. But again...if it were your kid, and you knew he had no interest in the program at all, would you pack, pile into the car and drive 500 miles in July? I mean, what would be the point? Expenses, heat, time, vacation time away from work, for nothing?

Momma will be thinking this is a looooonnnnnngggggg way from home.

No doubt. But most momma's also want their kids to be happy. I mean, I left home and moved to baton Rouge many years ago, and although I am sure it hurt my mother, she never once tried to talk me out of it.

That 500 mile trip could seal the deal for LSU.
Absolutely possible. No argument, there. In my trip to baton Rouge, I absolutely got a lump in my throat when it hit me I would be leaving what i considered home....and I had some family in baton Rouge.....brother, uncles, aunts and cousins.

Of all the stupid shite I've read in this thread, this one might take the cake.

Just my opinion, but as one who has done this same thing going in the opposite direction, I think he has a point.
I mean, I realize everybody is built differently, and kids leave home all the time, so it's hard to make blanket statements, but I know how if affected me.

Y'all heard of airplanes? The Emery family isn't fricking driving to Athens this weekend.

You sure? Do you have any idea how expensive it would be to fly 4-5 people to Atlanta, then rent a car and hotel rooms? They better be rich if they are doing that!

Round trip would be something like $500+ a person.

I retired from Delta Airlines, so I can tell you that it would be prohibitive.

Emery has already had 3 unofficials to UGA but maybe you are correct.

I'm not sure, but a Georgia poster said they had purchased their plane tickets to Atlanta for this weekend. The person I was responding to said she would have a long drive THIS WEEKEND.

I believe if Davis is going they are driving, because he mentioned leaving early to go to Alabama's event Sunday.

Emery is the one definitely flying.

It's an Official? Even if they pickup the tab, then it still only pays for the player and two parents, I believe? Maybe somebody else knows more.

But are you sure it is an official?

Could be.....but for some reason i was thinking it was Davis who was flying. I get them all confused, so you are probably right.

Now I am confused. That is when they are coming.
Anyway, it is crazy expensive to buy airline tickets at the last minute. They would have to pay full coach fare. I looked it up and it would actually be north of $600 round trip, I believe. Cheapest I could find would be on Spirit Air Lines for $342. Major carriers like Delta is going to be closer to $600 RT.

Davis didn't. Not sure where you heard that news about Emery, but I find it funny.
