If that's what he wants to do, more power to him. I personally think grey shirting anywhere, LSU included, as a top 100 player is foolish.

The rule on academic scholarship.
So yes with Parks being a 4.0 candidate he could possibly come to UA in the summer on academic scholarship and go to class workout on weights on his own and next January start with the football team. Or as mentioned spot open up for him prior to fall camp like has happened before.

This guy has a 4.0 GPA. He'll get some sort of academic scholarship.
Time to start the Saban Scholarship program.

Nope. The LSU board version is much more entertaining. It's like a country ham.

I think for most guys it's more of a pride issue than anything. They miss out on practice their first year in college. That's the negative. There can obviously be positives as well, like adjusting to college life without the added pressure of football. Alabama has had some major contributors to great teams that started out as a Grayshirt. John Parker Wilson and William Vlachos both come to mind. They could've gone elsewhere but had their hearts set on Alabama. Hell, JPW even played a few years in the NFL

This kid could see PT much earlier than JPW. But I agree with your points. Pros and cons. I personally think the cons far outweigh the pros. But I respect him for sticking to where his heart is.

I don't get the big deal. He's probably being a little emotional but can't he sign with another team if he changes his mind?
No reason to rush into anything right now. Guy had his mind set on Bama and is a little heartbroken right now. Just because he says he's ok with a Bama grayshirt doesn't mean it'll stick.

Yeah, I'm sure he's gone through the full range of emotions today. I mean the Paris/Eiffel Tower thing is pretty crazy, you have to feel for the kid

Well out of that impressive list there will undoubtedly still be open spots. Everyone won't fill up.

quote:not really. he really needs to add strength, not a likely early contributor. thats why he dropped in the rankings after hte all star games, he was behind other similar players in physical development, so either way he would have been redshirting at bama to get bigger and stronger. if he can do that and maintain hes very high athleticism then he can be a very good player for us down the line

If he does sign with Bama, he'll just be another Dee Liner and end up transferring to some sucky school.

Yes, for many reasons.
Yep..he gon'get the upgraded Dodge Charger package for his troubles.

Bama would be fine with that if it was in both party's best interest. I guess we'll see.

Why are LSU fans melting over this guy grayshirting for Alabama? You guys are walking microwaves.
Posted on 2/1/17 at 1:06 pm to thatdude1985
Melting? Simply discussing something that is unprecedented on national signing day.
Why are you always so angry?
