Is there a certain position you should focus on in high school more than others?

Now with the portal availability I feel like skill players are as common as ever but great qb and line play are what is lacking. I’d guess you’d be more pressed to recruit and develop lineman and a quarterback than you are a running back or receiver who you can probably grab as a junior or senior in 1 or 2 year rentals and be pretty good at plugging and playing

I’d really target high school OL. Most of the teams that build their line through the portal don’t turn out very good.

This is the correct answer and only answer.

Good OL are generally retained by their school and don't hop into the portal. Lack of talent and the fact that OL need to gel together to form a cohesive unit are reasons why portaling OL isn't a great strategy.

I agree on OL. But DT's are slim pickings and expensive in the portal as well.

I agree that they're expensive, but I think talented DL is more plentiful in the portal than OL. OM had 6 transfer DL last year that were the backbone of the team and 3 of them were drafted. OM hasn't had near that kind of success on transfer OL. Could just be my experience with it.

Both lines, specifically OT and DT. Worth their weight in gold.
