Hey Bama fans... I thought y'all told me there was no such thing as "the Bama Bump" ®

Alfano moves up 37 spots to #8
Eboigbe moves up 113 spots to #53
Young moved up 99 spots #90
Tagavolia moves up 94 spots to #118.
Lee moves up 27 spots to #159.
Ingraham moves up 92 spots to #174.
Harris dropped 37 spots to #94.
Williams dropped 28 spots to #152.
No other team on 247’s system had anywhere close to the significant upward movement of that many commitments.
What gives?

This is what we call the Big Orange Bump iirc

Bama recruits are better than everyone else?

Maybe the kids are good players?

Really remarkable considering I read on this site last year many times, that Kirby was the brains and evaluator behind the Bama machine.

You ever consider that maybe Saban can evaluate a player better then a recruiting site? Maybe they decided to take a better look after they committed to UA because Saban seems to know what he is doing.

Of course the Bama bump is real (and it should be). When Saban wants a guy that you don't have very high, you should probably take another look.

All of the players listed were vastly underrated. Up to this ranking, it seemed like they were intentionally downgrading them bc they committed to Alabama. Check out Alfano’s senior highlights for example and you’ll see the bump is well deserved.

Prospects often move up when they are pursued by Bama, UGA, OSU, etc.
Correlation/causation is important here.
You have to consider that Bama and the other schools that hang out at the top of the rankings also have the largest and best paid support staffs, and therefore have the best infrastructure to identify off the radar talent early.

This is the real joke. The only player in MS that seems to have moved at all?
Especially considering Jarrien Jones is having a great year and dropped.
If you want to see the Bama bump in action just look at Chris Jones, a 2-star who got into the AA All-America game and had 156 tackles his senior year. He is committed to MSU through all of this.
He did not jump to No. 2 overall on 247 until it looked like he might flip from Mississippi State to Bama.
Every State commit in the top 247 got dropped, which happens every year, then all those commits play at the level of their original ranking.
I get it, Bama makes them more money but people need to quit acting like it is the end all be all when there is obvious bias.

I really wish there was some Bama conspiracy because frick them, but it’s hard to argue with the fact that they are the best or close to the best team year in and year out.
I mean, it’s hard to say their recruits are overrated when they consistently are the best team in the country. There’s a pattern.

1) this post is mostly tongue in cheek... I really DGAF, I just know it's a frequent topic of outrage and derision
2) yes, correlation =/= causation
3) no one is saying their recruits are vastly overrated, simply that when recruiting services are given the chance, they seemingly boost Alabama recruits more than other programs... I don't think that has to be a malicious conspiracy... but it also doesn't make the "Bama Bump"® non-existent.

The gif is definitely top notch.

Recruiting rankings are fake. If a guy is offered by the best programs he automatically gets bumped.
If he is offered by lesser programs he is ranked lower. All the rankings are a crap shoot and should be used only for entertainment purposes.

Make up your minds.
Are we cheating in recruiting and paying to get all the elite talent or are our players not that goos and get a bump just because they're committed to Alabama?
