Happy for Lawrence

What it comes down to is Fromm>Bryant if you’re trying to start a competition btw Lawrence and Fields.

Yet to be determined, but Lawrence has the edge simply because he has been given a legitimate shot to earn the job. Fields is never going to get that chance.

FIELDS is not going to be given legit chance this year. If FIELDS is not given enough playing time this year so that he can compete in 2019 - then he will transfer. Don't think Kirby wants that to happen. Look for FIELDS to be game planned more into UGA's remaining games.

Come 2019, the QB competition will be closer to even ground and don't be surprised if Justin Fields edges out Jake Fromm.

Cam had a higher completion percentage at Auburn than Justin Fields did at Harrison.

Justin Fields, UGA - 14/18 = 78%
Cam Newton, AU - 191/292 = 65%

There, now you have some college apples-to-apples - granted a very small sample size for Fields.

The Fields family said publicly before the season that they would be OK with a redshirt (knowing how many successful QBs have sat their first season). What has changed?

It will be closer. But Cam Newton wasn't Cam Newton until his 3rd season. And even in that season, he had to develop each week to get better.

So...now that the regular season is over, it is easy to compare them vs a common opponent.

Vs South Carolina

Lawrence was 27-36 for 393 yards 1 TD 0 ints. 4 carries for 42 yards.

Fromm was 15-18 for 194 yards 1 TD 1 int. 4 carries for -5 yards.

Oops...it was supposed to be Lawrence vs Fields. My bad.

Fields was 1-1 8 yards 0 td 0 int. 1 carry for 3 yards.

Let’s compare Cam Newton’s freshman year to Lawrence’s.

Fromm was busy relaxing for last 13 minutes of game time. Lawrence was busy slinging passes til last minute of the game.

It’s got to be a conspiracy.

UGA fans still thinking Fields is on par with Touchdown Jesus lol.

Fields is a very, very good prospect.

Lawrence is a once-a-decade prospect. That doesn't mean Fields isn't a worthy five star, but lol at UGA fans still thinking he can be in the same league as the guy zipping lasers up at Clemson.

My 9 year old daughter would "zip around lazers" against ACC defenses this year. Your conference is historically bad, and your defense gave up over 500 yards to a low tier SECe team and pulled a horse shoe out of your arse against A&M. If I am a Clemson fan, I am definitely not talking shite

Not sure what the bump is for, but, I would say naming the best QB based on one year is a bit premature. I mean, would you say RG III is a great QB? He certainly looked the part after his first year in the NFL.

That said, Lawrence might turn out to be the best. He's got loads of talent, and seems to make all the plays.

This comparison never had a chance to get going from the beginning. One QB coming in behind a player who's QBR was #70 in the nation and the other behind a QB who's QBR was #10 and improved to #3.
