I want to be able to fly but that ain't gonna happen.

Sorry you can't even afford a flight on Southwest.

So a coach who has never coached a successful dual threat QB vs. a coach who coached the best one to ever play the game. Not too smart.
Gus coached him for one season. It's not like he developed him in any way, shape or form.
Come on. Even Auburn fans have to admit that Gus has not developed a single High School QB and got them to the NFL. Or even to being a very good QB, for that matter.

Are you saying Fields in incapable of staying in the pocket? I hope he does run......some. But I also hope we don't design a bunch of QB keepers for him to run, too. A few. But not a ton.

@ Randy Savage knows almost nothing about Justin Fields. I sat in the stands and watched every snap on all the home games the last two years at Harrison High School. Justin Fields is first a pocket passer, who will scramble to extend plays and then run when necessary or on a few designed runs. He is unlike 80% of "dual threat" QBs who tend to be inaccurate passers w/o a lot of arm strength. Justin did run a little more his Senior year but that was due to the offensive line not being very stout - no issues there at UGA. Just don't feed the "Fields Troll".

Actually, it was Randy who called Fields to Georgia when we were all guessing where he would end up. Don't sell Randy short. He might not like Georgia, but he is no dummy.

I had heard that, too. And, I've heard that is what he would like to do. So, I am on your side on this one.

Well Savage may be a very knowledgeable poster in most respects but he is just dead wrong on this one and it seems somewhat sour grapes. I defer to a lot of folks on other players but not Justin - I've just spent a ton of time watching him.

I've known Justin Fields since he was like 7 years old.
What I'm saying is that he can say whatever he wants about wanting to be a pocket passer, what makes him special is his ability to run and that's been his instinct anytime he gets in trouble.
Look at the close games Harrison played the last two seasons. There are several where he had as many rushing attempts as passing attempts.
Sure against River Ridge or Sprayberry where they are winning by 40+ points he doesn't have to run but when it gets real he knows where his bread is buttered.
You are making the mistake of thinking I mean this as a knock on the kid which isn't true. I think he's got the potential to be the most balanced dynamic QB in the SEC since Johnny Manziel. My contention is that he's never going to be a pocket passer like you guys are trying to assert he wants to become.
Like a wise dual threat QB once said, you can't tell a lion not to roar.
Oh, and you are right I'm jelly he's not at Auburn and I do hate UGA.

No, that is not what I have said.
Justin’s arm talent is GREAT - not good - GREAT.
Justin is also talented runner. He is GREAT at both.
Savage you have said what makes Fields “great/special” is his running. I am simply pointing out that you are incorrect.

I prefer Justin Fields and that’s primarily for two reasons. One he chose the Bulldogs. The second reason is it’s been a long time where a Georgia QB had the element of true speed in his game. We’ve had some decent scramblers with Stafford but we have also had some statues at Qb so it’s nice to have a qb that can be a true dual threat. Nothing against Trevor as he was a great qb that will pop off for Clemson.

So you think if Fields had the mobility of Jacob Eason he would have been considered one of the top two QBs in the nation last year and one of the best QB prospects in recent years?

This is true. I do remember.

Not based upon his throwing numbers.
But if the offense wasn't geared to his dual threat, would his throwing numbers have been larger?
He did show out camps. And those are passing camps. But he didn't put up the numbers that a statue will put up throwing the ball. It is a question if he was capable of throwing for 3000 yards and 40 tds if needed/asked.

YES. Fields arm talent is that GOOD. It's better than Eason's, it's better than Fromm's. It's better than Trevor Lawrence's.
So, in a word,
YES

Fair enough, we'll just have to agree to disagree then. Very interested to see how he performs this year and what kind of role they have planned for him.

You've watched about 100 times more of his play than I have.
Could he throw for 3000 yards if his offense was geared towards him being a statue? Was the receiving talent there? Could he make the right read quick enough to be effective when/if the defense knew he only had passing to his game?

Again, Kirby buying Fields was just as much about keeping him from Gus in our offense as it was about having him become UGA’s future “pro style” QB.
I wish Gus had the balls to do whatever it took to sign another dual QB in the mold of Cam/Marshall, because that’s when his offense is damn near unstoppable and he wins championships, but alas... Gus is a moron.

Agreed. Fair enough. There may be some specific packages for Fields this year, and they may be pass/run option stuff, but it won’t mean Fields isn’t an elite passer - it just will mean Dawgs have two great QBs and one went to Natty last year and is battle tested while the other is a true freshman learning on the job.
So don’t go feeling vindicated if Fields runs a lot in packages this year - lol.

Aub run accusing UGA of buying Fields is rich.
Thanks for the love cutey.
