This is not a troll.
Admittedly I do not know what you experienced in Auburn but respectfully Auburn has more important positions to fill than kicker. Additionally, we have Alex McPherson who will be a sophomore this season.
Best of Luck to your son. No doubt he will be just find.

Alex McPherson.
The top-ranked kicker in the country playing for Coach Chris Elmore at Fort Payne High … holds the state record 61-yard field goal vs. North Jackson … teammates voted him a team captain … won Kohl’s kicking national field goal competition and underclassman challenge … Alabama-Mississippi All-Star Game record 58-yard field goal … Under Armour All-America Game … also ranked among top 10 punting prospects nationally … brother Evan kicks for Cincinnati Bengals … also a soccer letterman … No. 1-rated kicker by Rivals, PrepStar and 24/7.

Alex is a stud no doubt…he will be a redshirt freshman this season.

Son got to kick with Alex at camp, and really…really enjoyed it. Quality kicker y’all have.

A guy is nice enough to share his experiences going along for the ride with his son to recruiting visits and you act like that? You must be a hoot to hang out with IRL

Seriously

You would think the trolling on the SEC forum was just that. But it bleeds over into threads like these. Terrible

This is cool. Do you have photos/write ups for each like UGA? Very cool!

I could, but honestly it got so fricking intense I didn’t want to jinx him or act like it was something I was ‘fine’ with either.

Strangely enough, his one offer so far…Ole Miss didn’t provide for anything as far as the fun pics or tours go, and really…I probably judged his kicking performance too harshly. He murders the ball and is dead nuts usually, missed a 38 from the right hash…pulled it across the face of the goal. Made back to 50 or so on that side then missed maybe a 42…banged it off the upright up near the top on the other hash. 8/10 wasn’t how he wanted charting to go.

They started the finals and he pulled a 53 or so. Those three misses were tough, but there’re tons of warmups and he really got to show what he has. Obviously, an SEC scholarship offer for a kicker the summer before their Jr season is just nuts…very rare air. My son was stupid positive after camp, he’s obviously more in tune with his abilities compared to others than we are.

That was Wednesday, Florida was Friday…I had been in touch with their player personnel staff, BR guys. They invited us early. Campus was insane…still grimy college kids places, but buildings were pretty and business choices were varied and cool.

Missed more kicks than he wanted, none out of high school uprights though, and his smooth swing somehow has a pop that coaches are just wowed with.

This is all tough to write, he’s at a 5 day camp in Orlando right now and the other kickers there are simply the best in the country…not like these college visits. In his soul he has EVERYTHING to prove.

Florida got straight up nuts. We got called up into Napier’s office…not even sure how to get into it all. Their football facilities are the perfect size/quality…their Ops building is nicer than LSU’s IMO.

Auburn was tough. I’ll just start with the end…my son walked up to the ST coordinator, shook his hand, and said hi, I’m Evan Noel…dude just straight up said hi, I’m ‘whatever his fricking name is’. End of words. They’re on the top of his list to kick a game winner against.

I’m not going to talk more shite than that. Place seemed fine enough, I used to go there when I was at LSU and we had fun. I’m just not. My son has a great attitude and loved the opportunity to kick with his friends. Can’t steal their shine.

Arkansas was next. They were more analytical about it all, filmed everything.

Again, maybe I’m too critical…he didn’t kick off anywhere like he did at Florida. Made every single field goal all day, pretty funny. He needs some more arse. If he focuses enough to burn down field goals he’s spent on kickoffs.

Coaches were by the books, unreal nice. Said they’d watch the tapes. Communication is tough before August 1st, but we manage. Lots of texting and pretty sure he’s 1 on their board. Who really knows though. They transformed Cam from someone who was too skinny to kick off in the SEC to a very hopeful pro…I think they see my son and say they have the equation to do the same. I believe them.

After that…it’s a VERY tough go. This week…near the end of July he has to go defend his #1 ranking. Probably be 500 kickers there (not all in his age, but the biggest camp in the country no doubt and now he’s a bit of a thing). Son has a very quiet soul. Hopefully he has a good time this week. Hugs either way after all of this.

He’ll be a Jr in high school…so the list of shite that could go sideways is infinite.

Scary, but most kids are just potential anyway. It’s good to have a lot of it. Sad if it doesn’t work out like they planned…but whose life did?

Are you sure? Neyland thought enough of kickers and the kicking game that they're mentioned twice in the 7 Maxims.

4. Protect our kickers, our QB, our lead and our ball game.

6. Press the kicking game. Here is where the breaks are made.

But even today when guys like Dave Bartoo do formulas projecting teams and how they'll perform - losing a kicker is a big deal to the formula. It's a position that a lot of fans (and some coaches) take for granted because they're not on the field as much as others but just in the Alabama-Auburn series alone how many times has that game been won or lost on a kick? And when I think about some of Tennessee's biggest wins over the years many have come down to a last second FG - truthfully my favorite ones have including last year's TSIO and James Wilhoit's from Goat to Hero moment against 2004 Florida.

Looks like a rough game of Foosball if he needed pads.

However it shakes out, this is still a great experience and opportunity. I am excited for him.

It’s like they broke out linemen helmets for the kickers…it’s comically big. Equipment guys probably did it on purpose.

Hopping into this thread now, does he have any visits with the special team god himself Pete Lambo and Carolina?

Beamer ball is always looking for good kickers. our punter last year was 6 for 6 on his passes.

Why wasn't he playing QB?

Yes. I was joking.
