This season could tell us a lot about how far along Mullen has come along losing as much as he did. Most people seem to expect State to be a 7-5/8-4 type team this year.
Hmmmmmmm, which would be another year of "consistent winning." Maybe a dictionary can help you.

Ummm, Mullen has coached State for 14 years?
Dude, you're hurting yourself.

Mullen is a good coach and getting the most out of his guys but when u have special kid like Dak you win a few more games and can do some special things. Do you really think that th expectation will now be to roll into tiger stadium every other year and run for 300? Or even at home? I hope so.
No. But the expectation is to compete and win their fair share. Not be intimidated and lose 19 out of 20 years.
I mean Ole Miss beats LSU regularly and competes almost every game. STATE IS on that same level now because of Mullen.

Not many are on Bamas level. Actually, none are. No one has had that type of success. But you know damn good and well you'd be ecstatic with LSUs football accomplishments. But keep on keeping on enjoying your 8 win seasons and your "diamond in the rough" recruits..
LSU should be on Bamas level. But you are closer to the Ms schools of late. You h ave no one to compete with instate for recruits. You . Should B-) e able to lock up parts of Texas. Hotbeds for football talent. I mean what's your excuse?

This is where the big boys differ from the Cowbell colleges of the world. A 7-5 season wouldnt be considering "consistently winning".
Once again, you mistake a "winning season" for what most would consider "consistently winning". CFB is a very easy place to win 7 games when many teams, like MSU, schedule 4 patsies OOC.

In the past 20 years:
National Championships: LSU-2 Bama-3
SEC Titles: LSU-4 Bama-4
Head-to-head: LSU-10 Bama -10
Seems like the same level to me.

The Ol' "of late" trick.
LSU has more NC's and SEC Titles in the past 15 years than MSU has in 100+ years.

Don't hate on LSU for making Tulane quit.
They were smart enough to realize that they didn't want to be a doormat for the rest of the SEC west to walk all over.
Only if you rednecks had the same sense.

Yeah. You dumb. LSU should be able to "lock-up" parts of Texas with UT, TAMU, Baylor and TCU all doing well.
With that said, LSU is doing very well recruiting Texas.

No excuses..................
LSU has 15 years with at least 8 wins.
With at least 10 wins in 9 of those years.
LSU has 4 SEC Titles and two NC's on top of that.
Miss. St. hasn't accomplished that in 100+ years and won't do it for another 100+ years.

I would argue that the state fan who reply bombed the thread is the most upset person here. But believe what you will.

Very few SEC games aren't competetive. We'll see how long Mullen is even at State. Same goes for Freeze.

Y'all turned a recruiting thread into a rant thread? Damn, y'all good
on the Louisiana DBs.

Dude, not a flame but you need to raise your expectations for your football team and what consistent winning means.

typical response that I was awaiting. It's always the go-to when there is nothing left to be said.

Consistent winner to me means top 25 and good bowl games year in and year out

Congrats to Mississippi State though for finally having one season where they weren't a complete embarrassment. You should definitely be comparing yourselves to LSU since we ONLY had eight wins last year. We're really dropping off the map right?

Is the Michelin guide now doing recruiting rankings?

Mullen back to his old bag of tricks has reeled in two relatively unknown diamond recruits from the state of Louisiana. They are Cam Dantzler a 6'2" 175 lb HS qb from Hammond who projects as a CB/S and Dontrell Allen a super athletic 6'0" 180 lb corner from east St. John who DBS coach Deshea Townsend fell in love with.
Well... sign me up for another 11 year win streak then.

Problem for LSU is ever since Katrina the talent is spread everywhere as opposed to beforehand where it was in traditional locals.
In the last five years, Mullen has made an annual pilgrimage to Louisiana and scooped up players ranking from 10 to the 60th best player in state.
They are 3-stars, but Mullen knows damn well the only difference is some of those and their 4-star counterparts is.....hype in many instances, marketing in others, and lastly some just play in good systems and for better teams.
If La. Tech, ULL, Tulane SLU or someone in our damn state could step the fk up and sign some of these guys we could keep arkansas and miss. st. in the cellar where theybelong:)
