Not trolling or getting my hopes, just curious if it is a possibility. Say we get commits from Foreman, Leigh and Smith. We would still probably have fewer 5 stars than Bama and OSU, but our overall points (247) could be higher

If you pull Forman and Smith I would say you are right there. I'm sure there are other big names you are in it for, too.

That is only if bama and OSU do not get any new players which will not happen. A pretty big reach for LSU just to get those players and pretty much a 0% chance that Bama and OSU are done. I would give the odds of LSU finishing with #1 class as .01%. Still a pretty good class though, just not on Bama and OSU level.

They have a good class but are not in on enough big time players to actually make a run at number 1 and probably not even top 3. Still a top 5 class though.

Wiltfong recently posted an article about this, though I don't know if thats pay board only.

Ohio State has a legendary class and if they get most of their targets they will have like 8 or 9 five stars. The only one challenging them for some of their targets is Bama, who will likely finish second. LSU is fighting UGA and Oregon for third. Given that all LSU recruits magically drop in the ranking, I wouldn't bet on third. That said, I still think we lead for Korey/Maason/Leigh. Would be LSU's best ever class.

Wut? They have four 5*s committed. There is only 7 remaining on the board.

Unfortunately I don't see us being higher than Ohio State or Alabama.

Alabama has one more 5-star and trails in the Composite Average Per Recruit by 0.01.

If Oregon takes Ika, they will have a tough time staying in the top 5.

While I agree that Bama and OSU aren't done, how is it a big reach for LSU to get those players? We have literally been connected to all 3 very heavily and all 3 have visited LSU multiple times. Foreman has done so on his own dollar. We may not get all 3 but I feel pretty strongly we get 2 out of the 3.

Clearly doesn't keep up with LSU recruiting. That's been the whole talk all year

Just do the math, currently it's this:

1. Bama - 310.25 with 22 commits
2. OSU - 304.22 with 20 commits
3. LSU - 291.04 with 22 commits

Also have Clemson and UGA lurking at 5 and 6 with only 17 and 18 commits and 274.80 for Clemson an 273.19 for UGA. Dont see Oregon finishing Top 5 unless they think they are going to land multiple big time prospects to close but they are at 23 commits right now and 285.10.

Best case scenario for us is ending up with Foreman, Smith and Leigh to get to 25, there will be shuffling beyond that some, but hard to say who comes in and who would go out, etc...

Add Foreman, Smith and Leigh and you get to 311.25 for LSU. It probably wouldnt get much higher than that even shuffling a few people around. Just dont see it as Bama for sure will add at least 1 or 2 more guys to move then up beyond 311. Then you have OSU with only 20 commits and they expect to land multiple 5 stars still. I'd say LSU has no danger of dropping out the Top 5, a very strong bet for Top 4 and a good outlook for Top 3, but you have to also pay attention to UGa and Clemson and what they do to finish up. Typically seems like Clemson signs a smaller class so I'd say they are probably a shorter bet than watching what UGA does.

In the end if I had to guess it will be OSU 1, Bama 2, LSU or UGA 3/4.

I keep up woth your recruiting. I could see Foreman and Smith but it has been reported that Leigh is leaning to Oklahoma. Who really knows with Foreman too? I think he ends up at USC but we will see. I agree yall are the favorite currently for Smith and pro foreman too

This is more of a rivals phenomenon more than anything, on 247 it's still pretty heavily LSU lean. Personally I dont get where the pub is coming from there for OU (it literally came out of nowhere last month).

Leigh visited LSU for our big recruiting weekend with his family after he visited OU for their big recruiting weekend. He came back the next weekend with his girlfriend to scope out places to live and go and whatnot, he never did this with OU. So I'm not sure where the rivals folks confidence is coming from there in October when Leigh hasn't visited anywhere since he last came here in September twice. He skipped out on Ohio State's big recruiting weekend last month.

Anything can obviously happen, it just seems like the rivals surge for Leigh is coming from nothing actually happening. He hasn't returned to OU since his visit in August.

This cycle following what recruits do not say seems more relevant than ever with everyone having to pay their own way to go anywhere.
