Can Hugh Freeze make an immediate difference in Auburn’s 2023 class?

As of the time of writing, Auburn has the 32nd rated recruiting class with only 13 commits. The players who are committed seem to be decent, a lot of four stars and some high three stars.

Can Hugh Freeze come in and get some more guys committed to Auburn before the December signing period to fill out the class, or will he have to make up the guys he can’t sign out of high school by hitting the portal in the offseason?

I ask because I really don’t know. I only follow recruiting casually and then pretty much strictly UGA, so I’m interested to see what you guys who may be more tuned in think.

There’s two five stars that he definitely has potential to pull. Hopefully they like the hire. They’re defensive guys though so we’ll see who DC is.

I doubt he can get a full decent class in a couple of months so we’ll definitely have to fill some holes with the portal but yeah hopefully he can impact it.

Going to have to be both.

He likely fills the class and AU finishes top 15 or so. That said, AU has some major deficiencies from Harsins completely refusal to recruit. Portal will have to be relied on for OL and other key positions

With $11 million in NIL money. Freeze can buy 11 5 stars for $1 million each. Jimbo paid up front, and the NCAA has not said a word.

Freeze is a good recruiter who can definitely pull in talent in a short time span. We saw it many times at Ole Miss (granted that was before NIL). I don't know if he has enough time to pull in a top 10 class, but top 15-20 is absolutely possible.

He will sign Smith and Russaw this cycle and fill out the class to make it respectable. They’ll get by next season by throwing big money at the portal this next month. 2024 class is where he will prove if he is going to boom or bust.

I doubt 2023 he has much impact but will probably pull one or two good prospects. 2024 class is already in full swing so I wouldn’t be shocked if they have a disappointing 2024 class too.

I’m sure he has already done a lot of praying about it.

Hope it's not true, but hearing KJ is being courted heavily by someone... in the SEC.

KJ fits the bill of a prototypical Hugh Freeze QB.

I hope so, cause it's rough right now. He will probably make a bigger splash this year in the portal than he will in recruiting.
