el oh fricking el

Basically, the good news here is essentially meaningless as Sumlin continues to kick Strong's butt up and down the state and then back again.
At this point, a day in which a Texas target doesn't commit to Texas A&M counts as a good day. So it looks like Thursday was a good day! Yup, a good day.

This is not going to be a good weekend for them.

It's a terrible time to be a Longhorn.

It is going to get much worse for them. This is only the beginning. This is a revenge kill.

I have thoroughly enjoyed, and will continue to enjoy, the collective tears of Texas fans. I hope A&M continues owning that arse for years to come.

Texas will be fine. Strong has done a lot with way less talent. They are recruiting fine right now, with the season still ahead . Strong isn't a tx guy and didn't really have ties to the state. These things take some time to develop. ATM should expect to whip their arse' in recruiting for now. If you don't, opportunities are being lost.

they just need to stop focusing on how they are doing against us and start focusing on how they are doing against the rest of their conference. they may be getting slaughtered by us, but they currently have the best class in the big 12 and will at the bare minimum have a top 3 class in that conference

They will be fine. Eventually they will make it back to being at least equal to ATM in recruiting. With some success, it would obviously happen quicker. Strong is a solid recruiter but places a premium on development. UT is in a much better position without Mack telling everyone they are a heisman winner/ all American in his eyes.

they are in for a rough 2014. that will hurt them a lot when it comes to recruiting with us. sure it may eventually somewhat even out and sumlin wont have a 10-2 head to head record vs strong. but as long as we dont frick this up, we will be in the driver seat when it comes to recruiting. like I said, they shouldn't focus on how they are doing against us, they need to focus on how they are doing against the rest of the conference

What's most important is who wins on the field, who wins conference titles, who go to the playoffs and sends kids to the draft
Posted on 6/7/14 at 10:56 am to JimmyHDeridderhigh
well its a good thing they probably aren't going to do any of that next year then

I don't really agree. The only reason they are in their current position is because of Mack. I know you are an ATM fan, and want to hang onto this direct success against Texas for as long as possible, but it's only a matter of time before they catch ATM in recruiting. Playing in the Big 12 gives them a much easier path to on field success and with ATM likely having a mediocre year this coming season, it will help Texas out a good bit. I don't think I'm wrong to say Texas has been ahead of ATM as far as programs go for many years, and it isn't far fetched to believe that they will regain that edge in a respectable timeframe. I'm pulling for ATM to be even more successful against Texas, but IMO this is just a short stint for ATM.

ATM is sending a lot of kids to the draft. Agree on Championships though.

quote:were they the better program in the 2000s? sure, but I know this may be crazy, we were the better program in the 80s and 90s and regularly out recruited texas in those decades. this shite is cyclical

I expect you to, you are an ATM fan. To each his own, only time will tell who is right. Good luck to ATM.

Sure, if they had a staff ready to take advantage of that success.
Briles at Texas? I would be scared. He could win a few 100+ point shootouts.
Strong at Texas? Time to watch another defense coach lose a few boat races a year in the Big 12 (and eventually his job).
Until/Unless Chavis finds a way into the league, the Big 12 will remain as an approximation of arena football.
TCU brought one of the beat defensive coaches in the country to the conference and it has eaten him alive. The Big 12 is ruined for playing D, and Strong's offense that we have seen so far sucks far too much to keep up with a Baylor.

not to mention the OC strong brought in has a scheme that people in 1991 thought was old AF. they are going to get into shootouts and they wont have enough to win
