Tilting the recruiting field? You've had two good classes (it looks like this one coming up is going to be great). But a lot of that is contingent upon success on the field. You are assuming those recruits will stay with their commitments if A&M wins 7/8 games this season. Do you really think JFF's fame and notoriety will bring about any sustained success to your program?
You seem to take for granted the fact that you're going to set the world on fire for the next couple of years. I just don't see it. I know you do. You lot always do. But I guess I haven't seen enough from Sumlin and your roster to really buy into them shifting the paradigm of Texas as the state's powerhouse any time soon.
All of your boasts are based on assumptions, not history or experience.

The SEC lost a lot of luster when Auburn lost the national championship. Plus UT had Mack Brown and aggy had Sumlin. They've bridged that gap by hiring Strong.

An A&M-Texas message board fight on the SEC Rant. Awesome.

I know its cute to hop in your delorean and watch the 2005 season on the LHN each night, but todays environment is completely different than the entire history of our two programs.
You need to worry about BAYLOR before you worry about us, cause they are the ones going in raw dog on your team more often than not.

Jury is out on Strong, he hasn't done anything except ban players from using the "Hook 'em!" and making them sleep on campus yet.

Hence the word "tilt."

Yes.

Those two good recruiting classes you just mentioned? Steps in the right direction.

And your lot always doesn't. Welcome to the rivalry.

The paradigm is already shifting whether you "buy in" or not.
Personally, I hope you and your ilk don't, tbh.

Like when we played for a national championship four seasons ago? You mean like that?
If you want to talk about "today's environment," let's look at, oh the last ten years. How many BCS games have you won? How many BCS have you gone to? How many conference titles do you have?
I'll wait.

Neither.
Go to HP/UP and be the big fish in the medium pond and get same perks that the fools at Texas and aTm get, except in much better city and school.

It's interesting to me that current recruits never mention or recognize this

So how does Strong bridge any gap? Brown was a phenomenal recruiter while the coaches we had during most of his tenure were not. Brown also won one MNC and played for another. Sumlin is a good recruiter, and true, yet to prove anything on their field other than he was smart enough to let a freak talent play.
Strong has done nothing and doesn't seem to recruit well. I'm not so sure that he narrows the gap so much as he widens it. Strong = Franchione, IMO.
But we shall see.

Recruits do not care about this.
Read their quotes if you disagree.
But by all means, enjoy your trip down memory lane

Not sure you understand the meaning of "today."

What has Sumlin done?
National title? No
BCS Bowl win? No
SEC Conference Title? No
SEC Division Title? No
Strong has a much better resume. It is amazing how A&M fans are content with Sumlin. They should be calling for him to be fired. Generations of settling for crap have taken its toll on aggies.

Today's environment is since we joined the SEC, who cares about the last 10 years when that includes time when we were in the big 12 and still attached to Texas.

Strong "doesn't seem to recruit well?" You have exposed yourself pretty badly there. Either you are busy collecting tolls under a bridge or have aggy brains.
Strong's classes at Louisville were light years from anything they ever had before. He recruited all throughout Miami Dade, getting Teddy Bridgewater to commit. At Florida he was instrumental in routinely landing top 5 classes.
But you're really smart, so...
