Yeah, apparently I can't read because I offered a follow up to a tweet he posted. He's a firey little guy, that beaver.

Do you think it is actually a different person? I wasn't here for him not being a dick.

I wonder what the conditions are that would enable a school to pull a scholly, or if they are different than the one year renewable ones.

Scholarships are essentially contracts, so it would be a fricking nightmare for a school to get out of a long term deal.

The first kid who gets put on medical hardship, thinks he can still play, and finds a doctor who agrees with him is going to bite them in the arse.

TideSports' new info on Philon:

quote:

* Saban told him more than a week ago that he would likely grayshirt.

* Philon, according to our best sources, said he understood but that he needed to get out of Prichard and not stay around there another year -- for those of you who have never driven by, over or through Prichard, I can only say that getting away is indeed a wise choice for a young man with options.

* The possibility of going to a prep school or junior college was discussed, but Philon did not like those options.

* He went ahead and announced for Alabama today at the school assembly. We can only guess that he was confused and upset over the situation and hoping against hope that a spot would somehow open up for him, but that is just conjecture. * He has now signed with Arkansas, according to the school's official website.

I feel bad for him now. I wished it would have worked out.

We just got a few of the early enrollees in the media room and Taylor said he's going nose guard.

He's also freaking huge. Said he's at 360 pounds and needs to get his weight down.

Look for a series of stories on a bunch of the new guys starting tomorrow.

Oh, and of his first workout with Alabama strength coach Scott Cochran, "Honestly, I almost died."

He's got a scholarship at a prominent Div 1 school that has been on the verge of competing for the SEC Championship. He isn't that screwed.

If he got shafted then I REALLY got shafted. I tried to commit and they wouldn't even greyshirt me.

But honestly, if the reports that he's known about the greyshirt possibility for a while are true, then I don't have a problem with it. There are tons of other kids out there that also didn't get to play at Bama.

Exactly. If anyone wants to bitch about anything, direct it at the SEC President's that went against the coaches and the NCAA that limits the amount of scholarships that can be handed out.

I feel bad for him. I hope he has a great career at Arkansas and a long pro career if it comes to that.

I'm with ya, the 25 rule sucks.... It was a knee jerk reaction that hurts the KIDS more so than anyone. That being said don't accept a kid at his word once he commits to you and then tell him 2 weeks before signing day you don't have room. Lets not forget this was one of two kids that were told if they wanted to play at UA they'd have to greyshirt AFTER they committed.

If you had it your way their would be 300 men rosters

Any truth to the SEC lowering the roster limit to 80 in a year or so?

I wonder if an early signing period would have prevented that.
