I'm guessing it has escaped most that kids that go onto the Bryant scholarship that are athletes can't compete until their third year on campus.

It will probably depend on how the numbers work out, but it is likely message board that's out of hand at this point. If he were on the Bryant scholarship, he would have to redshirt and couldn't play until he's a redshirt sophomore.
Because there's so few of these type of cases left, I'm guessing most people had never even heard of it.

No, RS Soph. His red shirt year can count as one of the two years.

And just so you know, the Bryant Scholly is $4,000.00 per year that goes into the students account at the beginning of the school year.

No, RS Soph. His red shirt year can count as one of the two years.
Also what some people may be overlooking is that, from how I understand it, he won't count against the 85 initially, but once he plays, he will. So while he won't take anyone's spot for now, he'll take the spot of a recruit in the future. So it really doesn't matter

Baseball does not give full Scholarships, but I think the CF'er on the baseball team gets the $4K on top of his baseball scholly.
There will not be very many more kids going on the Bryant Scholarship after the next few years. His last signing class members are now 48 and 49 years of age.

Exactly so he will work his way in and when he's ready he can get a regular scholly

Can we have a Dooley Scholarship?
Yes. If Coach Dooley established a scholarship fund with $600,000 of his personal money in the early 70's to create an academic scholarship fund that would allow the children of any former players to attend college, then you are good to go!

I don't want to correct you (you are a much better poster than I am) but it doesn't just apply to kids of people that played for Bryant and is not going away anytime soon.
It also applies to any kid who likes Golden Flake or calls his mom on Mothers' Day.

Is it true that this guy has diabetes, and has to play with an insulin pump attached to his hip? If so, that's pretty fricking awesome for him, but how long could he withstand that in big boy college football? One would think that would get in the way or could cause potential harm (even though it hasn't so far in his life).

We also have a Wilford Brimley scholarship.

Those pumps withstand quite a bit of abuse. I had a middle schooler I worked with that had one recently who got hit by a car crossing a street near his house and it didn't even crack it (the kid is okay FWIW, just had a broken arm).
Worst case I would think the training staff could create something from the same material used for a soft cast/brace to "cushion" it.

Does not wear the pump while playing. I thought that was the reason bama never offered. You look at his film, he is a player. Big fast strong. I was told the pump was no problem at all and has no bearing on him playing.
