Recent update from VQ:

In talking to some people today, the timing hasn’t worked out for an in-home visit because the family was hunting and then when they could earlier in the week, Pruitt was on the west coast. The family is meeting at Catholic with Pruitt and Fulmer. At the end of the day, Cade has done this the right way in not dragging TN through the ringer as he decommitted and didn’t go public for a month. No matter what happens, IMO this is more of a poor timing with the changes and lack of direction through the last two months. They are going to listen so anything is possible.

That's the feeling. Guys around the Catholic program have been saying this since before the season started.
And the Dawgrading of a player's ability/potential begins. Let me guess, once he signs anywhere other than UTk next week, "We didn't really want him, anyway..."

If you're even the slightest bit honest with yourself, you'd admit that if Mays had stayed true to your puke orange school the entire time, (even through the unmitigated, flaming shite show on ice that Tennessee Volunteers Football has become in 2017), that there's no way in hell you'd even *hint* at Mays playing soft.
Oh no. He's be the greatest Vol OL of all time, since "He's a Knoxville boy through and through. Baby shite orange blood courses through them there veins, cuz his diddy was a Vol and loves him some Phil Fulmer."
All of this other talk is squarely rooted in a basket of sour grapes, and you know it. Whether you're man enough it admit it is another issue entirely. I'm not certain I should be surprised by an unhinged poster making "****ry" accusations, though since you took care to make sure you built your username around a phallic reference.

I mean sure we'll be sour to lose a legacy and in state 5 star recruit that was committed for 2 years previously. That being said, there was a video of him that surfaced earlier this fall where he absolutely destroyed a kid. Several TN fans were salivating over it and were immediately jumping to the thoughts of running roughshod over the SEC with Mays and Smith on the line. Those folks were quickly brought back down to Earth by the TN fans and posters on various sites that watch him every week, who said that a) there is no one he plays against in that HS division that is remotely close to his size and thus he looks dominant based on that fact alone, b) someone better get on his arse and help develop some kind of work ethic, and c) he is raw and will require a bunch of work not only in the weight room but also on the practice field and in the film room. The latter is pretty glaring as noted by the 40 something penalties against him this year.
Once again though, any knowledgeable fan will tell you that losing a legacy recruit isn't preferable, much less one that is a 5 star recruit that is from Knoxville. Unfortunately we've seen that happen a handful of times the past few years.

See, this is a reasoned and thoughtful response. I can work with this.

Isn't his little brother also pretty talented. Cade Mays wouldn't be asked to jump on Georgia's line and contribute immediately. All of our tackle and guard spots should be pretty well locked up on the 2 deep with our recent hauls plus this years crop. Honestly he could come in here and redshirt and sit a year and probably get 2/3 years of starting before moving on. If he wants to play early UGA is going to be a tough 5 man to crack for anyone even if he his a 4/5 star player right now. That's not to say he cant' earn it because anyone can but if he needs polish we got the coach and the program that wouldn't have to force him into starting early.

If he is, indeed a project of sorts, I could see a Ben Cleveland type of development for him. A few years of "Where did he go?" threads, then he steps up and throws DL into the secondary.

Yep. He's an OG prospect at this time, rather than an OT - LINK - 6'2" ish, 235ish as a sophomore in HS. So a little small-ish right now, but has time for his frame to develop still. Seems to have great punch/drive... Has an offer from us at least.

Apparently Dabo was also there today for a meeting after Phil, Pruitt and co., and Phil told him to hold his nuts as they went an extra hour longer on their meeting

Looks like Cade told Phil to hold his nuts

Situation seems straight forward. Kid and family don't want to be a part of a multi year rebuild. Will be either Clemson or Georgia. Clemson probably has the edge now, but his UGA OV is this weekend, and Smart has yet to use his in home visit.

I hope he ends up at UGA, but it appears he is a good kid, and I'll wish him luck wherever he goes....except when he plays against us.

Bunch of guys I work with have said some things about him being average to less than average when playing better talent.
