Sav'ell Smalls is a very highly-ranked LB that Bama isn't actively pursuing, but it's not due to concerns about his FB talent.
Out of curiosity, what's the hold up there? Kid looks real damn talented.
The way I worded that is very close to how Tim Watts put it. It appeared that Tim knows more, but won't reveal it.

Sewell is a freak. His brother at LT is a freak too. The bloodline is ridiculous.
This kid is a game changer on defense.

Good thing every uga game is on tv.
His bro at Oregon is my only worry.

Oregon has a lot of backers in the league. You might want to pump the brakes and fact check.
Not what I said. I said the SEC gives linebackers comparatively more notoriety than any school out west. The SEC is known for defense and they often play their games when the majority of the country is watching. While PAC 12 defenses vary and Oregon may produce some NFL talent, it doesn’t garner close to the same attention.
People know who the stud linebackers are at Bama and Georgia and LSU. They may occasionally hear about a linebacker at Oregon.
As Vander Esch has garnered more attention in the pros, people aren’t reflecting on his halcyon days at Boise. They’re looking him up to find out that he went to Boise at all.

Got it... so "something" will remain nebulous for now..

Wilson will point to Aguayo and Pueller in this upcoming draft at WSU.
I apologize for my lack of west coast knowledge, but could you explain to me what in the world you’re talking about here?

Think we obviously have some southeast bias here, because Vander Esch was relatively well known. But when you look at Butkus award winners, things do look favorable to the SEC in recent memory.

You really think that distance, relationship with the coaches and the fact that the path to the playoffs would be easier at Oregon aren't pluses for Oregon? Also, Oregon plays Utah twice where all three sons would be in the same game.
I honestly think this comes down to whether Oregon plays to their potential or not. If Oregon comes out and beats Auburn and starts rolling through the conference, we get his signature.

I watch a ton of college football and I’ll cop to the fact that I may have heard his name during a highlight segment but otherwise really had no clue about him until draft time. Boise State football just isn’t appointment television

Pueller I assume is supposed to be UDFA Pelluer. Not sure on anything else there..

Yeah, he’s at Nevada and another at Utah. Both were not Oregon caliber. The problem with Georgia is the family doesn’t have the budget to fly all over the country to see them play. I think in the end that plays a big role. I also think having a bunch of polys helps a lot. They’ve already dealt with a homesick kid.
In the end, I think he comes to Oregon. However, he’s not 100% lock.
That is a very important factor for a lot poly kids. SuperMario is an ace recruiter too.

Distance and bro go hand in hand. He would be in what could be a large group of elite west coast kids in the 2020 uga class. He seems enamored with the sec. He has a strong relationship with our coaches too. I doubt your coaches are selling him on an easier path to the playoffs.

Pueller was a 5 time all pac 12 player. He ended up injury riddled and he's undersized for the NFL. The point is at Oregon Wilson will be working with kids that aren't. Wilson has a good reputation on the West Coast.

They could absolutely do that if they wanted. Oregon looks to have the most talent in the PAC for the upcoming seasons.

Your point was that he’d point to them in the draft...

I am not dismissing Georgia's shot here. However, if you think that distance is the only reason, you're wrong.
I am sure your staff has a good relationship too. However, the Sewell family knows more about our staff.
At the end of the day, it's going to come down to distance or SEC. So, I am not exactly saying the thought process is wrong. Oregon needs to show out well against Auburn. If Oregon looks like dog shite on August 31, I will be concerned.
My point is Oregon has talent, they will get exposure and they have good coaching. We also have the best S&C program in the West and the UW is less of an obstacle than BAMA.

Here from his bio:
"Wilson has seen over 20 of his former players sign professional contracts, including six linebackers who were all in the NFL all at once in 2012 and 2013. He currently has four former players in the NFL: Deone Buchanan (LB – Arizona Cardinals), Shalom Luani (SS – Seattle Seahawks), Frankie Luvu (LB – New York Jets) and Brandon Marshall (LB – Denver Broncos)."
Wilson gets dudes who have no business going to the NFL into the NFL. Avalos and Wilson are developers. Oregon got two players in the last draft. Dye is projected 1st or 2nd round in 2020 and there is a pipeline building at the position.

I can understand why Oregon believes they are leading - perhaps they are. Certainly the brother is an advantage.
There is a lot of confidence behind the scenes at UGA as well - not just based on Smallwood's forecast. Kirby has made Sewell a priority - With SEC and the DC(Lanning) and Co-DC(Schumann) are also the LB coaches at Georgia. Those three are ace recruiters (I know Cristobal is great as well).
I just don't think distance will be a deciding factor at all as Eugene is like 800 miles away and Athens is 1,900. Both are too far to drive. There is no hometown school advantage and Noah has consistently said that his decision will be independent of his brother.
Sewell could go either way on between these two schools but it is probably a closer call than you think and it is probably a decision more in Sewell's hands than his parents. The differences in level of play from PAC10 to SEC is a wide gap as is the number of players the SEC puts in the league versus all the other conferences.

I drive to SLC to Eugene in 11 hours and do it regularly. Both cities are right on the interstate and you can easily average 75 mph.
