He's stated he was a silent commit for some time.

Is it really a silent commitment if everyone knows about it?

Just gave an interview to Mike Farrell naming UGA, Mich, FSU as Top 3 in order.

LINK

"ATLANTA -- Four-star linebacker Will Ignont says he backed off a silent commitment to Alabama and now has Georgia, Michigan and Florida State as his new top three. See what he had to say to Mike Farrell at the Rivals100 Five-Star Challenge Media Day."

Still think he goes to AU, though.

I guess Bama pissed him off the other day when he was going to make his commitment public and Bama said no. Can't believe Auburn is not in his top 3.

What are the Auburn people hearing?

According to Auburn Rival's update, Auburn is his #1.

Auburn leads according to latest update by Will Ignont himself.

You mind posting a link to that, because i just saw an interview with him and he named Georgia the leader, followed by Michigan and Florida State.

Probably was referring to this interview. This is from about a week ago but doesn't explicitly state they are his leader, just that they are top three and will be in it till the end which he essentially confirms in the newer interview, maybe just slid then back a spot. The one linked above that I shared in our thread appears to be from today.

Makes sense. When TT said that "according to the latest"...he apparently had not seen the latest.

I thought maybe Ignot had flipped and flopped, saying what his audience wanted to hear. You know, like a politician.

If the dawgs bag Ignont and of course Nate McBride to go along with Dixon and Hunter that is the making of a damn good LB class. That said I'll believe it when I see it when UGA pulls a Will Ignont or Nico Collins from Bama, I actually like Monty Rice more than Ignont.

I think Walter Grant is way underrated right now. Hoping we add him into the fold as well.

Eta: OLB/DE guy obviously, rather than inside like McBride, Dixon and Ignont.

As far as Nico goes, I just feel pretty strongly we're going to whiff there. By the time he gets to making a commitment, we're going to be full at WR most likely, making us a less attractive option. Even if he picked us then it's either shuffle guys back and take some negative publicity (not good in year one with Kirby's reputation for being a relationship guy, also unlikely) or take too many WR commitments, which likely leads to flips on signing day or future roster management problems. Just a lot working against that one I think, even beyond the difficulty of pulling out of the state of Alabama.

Guess he was a silent, until Coach Saban wouldn't accept his commitment.

I'm not saying that's exactly what happened, but if you read between the lines from the interview linked earlier, it might not be far off. Typically I'm all aboard the laugh at gumps being gumps train, but this might be one of the few cases where it is less warranted.

I sometimes dislike how much Alabama slow plays in-state talent.

I don't think you slow play or turn down an instate backer this far away from signing day before he has even started his senior year. You let him commit and process him later if he gains weight. Seems like an odd approach unless they are certain that they have other guys on board that they like better. That being said, seems to be UGA or AU's gain and even if he commits now neither one will feel safe and he could end up back with the Tide anyway.
