I think he's referring to...

Memphis has I40 and I55 intersection

Nashville has I40 and I65

Knoxville has I40 and I75

what do you mean by this?

Geography. If you want to go North or South and live East of the Mississippi River you're likely going through TN at some point. As for East to West? Right now you can hop on I-40 from Knoxville and drive all the way to California without ever changing interstates. West, TN/Memphis has the Mississippi River which is a centrally located north/south shipping hub. Knoxville is also about as central as you can get for driving either from the Midwest to Florida or Maine to Florida. Nashville if you're going from the Midwest to a different part of the deep south.

Put another way, Cincinnati is as close to Knoxville as Atlanta. Same with a lot of other Midwestern, Northern, and East Coast cities that others further South think of as far away.

We are a ridiculously long state and ideally suited for things like FedEx, Amazon, etc. And internet shipping/mail order is a high growth industry.

That's the more concise version. And yes.

Exactly. its just for Nashville. Complete boondoggle and guess who supports it...engineering firms and developers. Most Nashvillians I know are against it

Roads are shitty, driving on 440 feels like Iraq, bus routes are inefficient, buses are empty as it is, theres not enough residents downtown to support this, technology is revolutionizing transportation ....and they want to invest over 10 billion dollars and 10-15 years of construction in 17th century technology while eliminating lanes for normal traffic and adding 2 bike lanes. Makes me so angry

At some point, Nashville will need mass transportation and probably fairly soon but that stinks of a corporate giveaway.

Unfortunately. this state only has one type of politician: corporate. The red/blue distinctions are damn near irrelevant beyond the state house embarrassing us with some wackaloon bill every now and then that makes us a laughingstock of the nation. I just thank God Stacy Campfield is gone since he was adept at getting the most attention for the dumbest shite possible.

Exactly. There is a plan that make sense for Nashville. This is not that plan. The opposition syas "Well if you dont like the plan, whats your option? Nothing? You don't like progress you are backwards"

Essentially they are saying since this is the only option, we should do it now, 10 billion dollars be damned

TBH, I would say if you want to spend that much it better damn well be cutting edge -- something that no place in the world has that can be a point of pride for a growing metro area. Don't replicate what others have done just to have something. It's going to be expensive and a pain in the arse construct either way. Nashville doesn't have a system yet so make something that people want to use, alleviates traffic, and that other cities point to and say "damn we should model ourselves off of this."

That takes more time, vision, and planning but it's more than possible. And to those who say "you're crazy" I'd say look at San Francisco's trolley system. People go there just to ride the trolley's. You get one shot at this so think about what makes Nashville unique and dream big.

Let's just say that easy drive has a lot more miles on it than Atlanta to Athens.

Dumb. Butch and Hoke screwed this up from the beginning and hes never been a UT lean to begin with. This ones not on Pruitt.

I don't disagree that it's tough to 'blame' Pruitt on this *but* the comparison isn't technically that bad. Squattenheimer under the previous staff made an error, Kirby corrected it. Hoke/Butch made an error previously, Pruitt unable to turn it around. Doesn't mean he should have been expected to, but it isn't unreasonable to say that's something that Kirby seemed to have more luck with. Albeit with a sample size of one and all that...

Agree with your points, but you also have to consider the product Kirby was selling (richts last year was 10 wins, good recruiting before that, etc) vs what Pruitt has to work with (complete and total dumpster fire)

Oh for sure... as I said. I don't fault Pruitt for not being able to pull off the miracle... but Kirby definitely earns the credit for doing so. If Pruitt had pulled it off as well, it would have been more impressive... and ultimately, he's got all year to try and work some magic.

What?If you live in Florida or Georgia or even parts of Alabama you're not gonna go through Tennessee to get to any major city on the
East Coast:Charlotte,DC,New York,Boston or Philly.

Are they they gonna reroute 85 or 95 anytime soon?
