That lends to the rumor that the staff has evidence of tampering and are comfortable leaving the door wide open for him. Once Belk commits I believe we'll really start hearing what's going on.

If they had evidence of someone tampering with Belk after he signed that LOI and enrolled, I don't see why they'd need to wait for him to commit or enroll somewhere else.
I haven't read the rules on tampering, but it wouldn't make sense that you've only violated the rule once a player leaves and commits to the tampering team. If they had any hard evidence of it they could go ahead and burn whatever coach did it now.
All the conspiracy theories are fun, but it kinda seems like he got caught up in the CFP hype/celebration, committed sort of out of the blue, never took another visit, then realized maybe he wished he'd gone somewhere else. And to his credit, Dabo gave him a full release to go wherever he wants.

Yeah good luck with that. It's about a sick family member, but you visit UGA and are looking at UT. Those programs wouldn't even be on the table if that was the real reason.
No way did Belk make this decision to leave the program without some kind of communication between someone in his circle and someone at USC. A kid would be taking a big risk if he didn't have someone in his party put out feelers. Of course he is going to say different, because otherwise he is in trouble and USC is in trouble.
If the roles were reversed, Gamecocks would be crying bloody murder on this whole situation.
If he wants to leave, that's fine, but you can't just transfer to wherever you want and play immediately... That would be chaos for CFB if kids could transfer and play immediately (outside of a grad transfer).
