Here are all the classes with at least 12 commitments, ranked by percentage of 4 & 5 stars in the class (according to Rivals):

1) Ohio State- 76.5%
2) Georgia- 71.4%
3) Clemson- 64.3%
4) Alabama- 58.8%
4) Florida St.- 58.8%
6) USC- 57.1%
7) Michigan St.- 55.6%
8) Tennessee- 53.3%
9) Auburn- 52.9%
9) LSU- 52.9%

11) Notre Dame- 50.0%
11) UCLA- 50.0%
13) Texas A&M- 47.4%
14) Stanford- 45.0%
15) Penn State- 44.4%
16) Michigan- 42.9%
17) Oklahoma- 38.5%
17) Washington- 38.5%
19) Ole Miss- 36.8%
20) Baylor- 36.8%
21) Oregon- 36.8%
22) Miami- 33.3%
22) Texas- 33.3%
24) Florida- 32.0%
25) N. Carolina- 30.4%

Sometimes when its this far out before signing day, this is a better projection of how strong the recruiting classes really are.

Florida's class is currently rated #7 by Rivals. But that high ranking is in large part due to the fact they have 25 commitments. They are actually rated ahead of Alabama (who sits at #9), but that's because Alabama only has 17 commitments.

Anyone who follows recruiting knows Bama will have no trouble filling out their class with mostly 4 and 5 star kids, so its inevitable that Alabama and many other teams will pass Florida in the rankings.

My question is this: How is Florida's recruiting class so mediocre? They already have 25 commitments, yet that includes zero 5-stars and just eight 4-stars. Florida has commitments from 17 kids who are 3-stars or lower.

Another way to look at it is # of kids in the Rivals 250:

1) LSU- 9
1) Clemson- 9
3) Ohio St.- 8
3) Florida St.- 8
3) Stanford- 8
6) Georgia- 7
6) Alabama- 7

6) Michigan- 7
6) Michigan St.- 7
10) USC- 6
10) UCLA- 6
12) Auburn- 5
12) Ole Miss- 5
12) Texas A&M- 5

12) Miami- 5
12) Baylor- 5
12) Penn St.- 5
18) Florida- 4
18) Oklahoma- 4
18) Oregon- 4

So Florida is in a 3-way tie for 18th in terms of # of Rivals 250 kids committed.

Tennessee only has 2 commitments from the Rivals 250.

It's looking very likely the SEC's recruiting classes will end up looking about like this:

1) Alabama/LSU/Georgia
2) Alabama/LSU/Georgia
3) Alabama/LSU/Georgia
4) Ole Miss/Auburn/Texas A&M
5) Ole Miss/Auburn/Texas A&M
6) Ole Miss/Auburn/Texas A&M
7) Florida/Tennessee
8) Florida/Tennessee

Everyone else at the bottom.

Once again, its the SEC West and Georgia who get the bulk of the talent... and then everyone else.

McElwain's first class at UF finished #23 last year. I had thought that with a full year to recruit, he'd do better this year. But when its all said and done, it appears Florida will not finish in the Top 15.

Say what you want about Muschamp, but the man could recruit. He landed the #3 class in 2012, the #4 class in 2013, and the #8 class in 2013.

How will McElwain look at Florida once all that talent begins to leave?

You are making the assumption that he can't spot talent as well if not better than these websites

Georgia might take the offseason award from Tennessee before the offseason even begins.

Mac has been in Colorado for a few years. He hasn't been developed the relationships most other schools have. But if you really think he's going to have trouble getting talent to Gainesville, your parents probably shook you as an infant.

Look at all those championships you've won with all of your superior talent in your division recently.

You are correct.

Of course if you take the average recruiting rank for every program during the past 4 years, the Top 3 programs in recruiting are these:

1. Alabama (Avg. rank #1.25)
2. Ohio St. (Avg. rank #4.5)
3. Florida St. (Avg. rank #5.75)

So you've got the last 2 National Champions plus the team that's been #1 in the polls the majority of the last 3 years.

Obviously, the recruiting services don't know much.

That's a whole lotta work put together just to try an crack on the Gators.

First, find the recruiting board. We have one, it's called, wait for it...................SEC RECRUITING.

Second, don't worry about the Gators. We'll be fine.

TN has had more 4/5* recruits the past two classes than UGA.

When TN closes strong they'll get way up there as you can see our average star ranking is in the top 10 and we have about 7 or so spots left right now.

It's going to be a good competition. It's been awhile since you've had two SEC Big Sixers competing for the offseason championship.

You do realize UT finished ahead of us in recruiting the last 2 years correct?

You are also judging him on one recruiting class, what is to say he doesn't have top 10 classes the next two years. One year of recruits normally doesn't make or break a team each year.

UF has its eyes on several 4 and 5 star prospects.

In fact UF will sign most likely 30+ commits in this class.

UF is still in it for a bunch of high caliber recruits who is either waiting until NSD or the all-American games in January to commit, basically we'll know a lot more about the trajectory of UF's recruiting class after the all-star games.

Why do UGA fans consistently bring our recruiting as if it matters in December?

MAC has addressed several needed areas with the players we already have committed (I'd personally like to see a couple more on the OL but it is what is). UF is in good position for several big name players on both sides. We will be fine.

If I'm a UGA fan I be more concerned about what CJM is going to do to Georgia when he has a roster full of guys that didn't see inept offensive coaching for 4 years, has more than one legit WR (Callaway), a non-neanderthal at QB (Harris), a horrid blocking OL, shitty kickers, and more than 1 healthy linebacker (Davis).

Recruiting doesn't matter if you can't coach the guys you bring in. Muschamp was a failure at that( as he was at most things while he was here); but Mac proved he can coach Muschamp's players (with all of its roster flaws) to Atlanta in one year.

Future's bright.
