AU can boast running a "pro style" offense. IMO, Loeffler will be productive on the recruiting trail touting his relationship with Brady to QB recruits.
I think even more important than his relationship with Brady will be inevitable improvement of quarterback play due to experience and growth.
That said, I think that Van Gorder will be able to boast the same. He inherited a situation that was night and day from what Roof did. Roof inherited a defense with shitty older players and crappy young players with a lack of depth. Van Gorder gets to start with a lot of talent all over the field on the defense and good depth, just still a bit on the young side.
I could see our 2013 class being a very good, small class of about 18 kids and almost all 4 star and above.

How much room do we have right now before attrition?
Posted on 3/26/12 at 10:00 pm to Weagle25
12 to 14 depending on if any walk-ons get scholarships. I believe we have 12 seniors and 1 or 2 roster spots

I think the 2013 class is going to be Chiz' best here at AU, and that's saying something.
I would be shocked if we don't finish with a unanimous top 5 class (given that, obviously, everybody that's committed right now signs).

If we take a class of only 15-20, I doubt we'll be in the overall Top 5

This is gonna be a really small class then unless we start processing.

I think we will. Every top program does

I don't think so. Bonomolo has given up football and the only player I can see being straight up asked to leave will be Ladarius Phillips if he doesn't get his weight down to what the coaches have asked for the past two years. Outside of those, I don't see anyone. We finally have a balanced roster but it is just heavy with freshmen and sophomores.

it's 12, but we're around 82 or 83 total scholarships... that's 15 openings... some guys may leave early, transfer out, etc... around 5 would be a normal rate of attrition.
You're looking at around 20, imo... about the same as the 2011 class.

I thought Rivals only counts your top 20 players anyways?

Probably, but I think we'll struggle to get to that 20 mark.

We are bringing in 22 again. Going to be a lot of career-ending high-ankle sprain on the Plains next fall.

There will be some spots opened up. The coaches see the talent in this 2013 class. They aren't going to pass up the opportunity. We'll bring in at least 19 or so

I'm guessing 19-20 also.

Medical redshirts EVERYWHERE!

Auburn establishes its medical bonafides by providing excellent treatment to injured athletes from the opposing team and then PROVIDING THEM A PRIVATE JET FLIGHT HOME.
Bama establishes its medical bonafides by abusing the medical scholarship program.
So, when 4 or 5 Auburn football players soon develop irrecoverable ankle and knee injuries, resulting in the availability of needed scholarships, who they gonna believe, NBama, my Crimson bruthah from anuthah muthah?
WHO THEY GONNA BELIEVE?

And we won't deny or deflect (looking at you, certain Alabama poster) when it starts happening...
I don't think it'll be on a massive level, though.

JLee just hinted that WR Isaiah Jones may be close to committing to Auburn. He's 6'4, a 4 star on 247

I definitely want to see more defensive players in this 2013 class. We are pretty stacked on offense right now, other than QB.
