Just for funsies, who is our next commit?

Already has.

It was interesting to hear all of the defensive players commenting on how they never had to learn plays last year. They basically said there was no playbook for the defense, they were just playing read and react.
This would really make me question the head coach if true.

Adams seems like he will wait a while before coming out publicly.
I think our next commit is Derrick Green.

I'll go with montravious. Please!
Isn't going to commit until the all star games. He's already given his word that he'll do his announcement there.
If I had to pick one I'd say Tray, but I doubt there's a timetable on it.

Eric Mack might make room for one more, not sure where we'd get any more room though.

I think our poor DT play last year made Holland look worse than he played, especially after Holland got injured a bit.
I guess we'll find out
To me this is exactly a point a ton of people miss. It is hard to be a good LB when every down you are either getting reach by an interior OL or your DT is five yards back. Makes it hard to fill the right gap. I still think Jake can be a very solid MLB. We as fans just want everyone to be a stud the moment they walk on campus and seem to lack any patience for development

If Robinson, Lemond and Johnson enroll early and count back, doesn't that leave us with a little more room? With 81 on scholarship, we can have 4 count back to last year right? Will we give those scholarships to walk ons instead of those that can count back?

quote:This bothers me as well, but with Jake he is a junior and from all of the comments coming out of practice, he is having the same problems he has been having since he arrived. He has a couple of more weeks to get it, I hope he does.

We have 81 on scholarship with 13 seniors. That means we have 17 spots open if every non-senior returns.

Jake Holland seems to be the defensive version of DeAngelo Benton.

True but my point is I don't think he's truly had the chance. It is hard to play MLB with two bum ankles and a hurt wrist on top of playing behind a incredibly porous line.
Now if he doesn't have any production this year or if somehow Cass starts over him then he will definitely be a bust. I hope and don't think that will happen

Which came first, his sucky play or his bum ankles and wrist? I'm honestly tired of hearing about his injuries because to me it just sounds like an excuse for his poor play. HE is a JUNIOR and still can't get players in the correct alignments.

I will agree with this and that is what scares me the most.

It really does piss me off though that basically all the defense is saying "Man we actually have to learn what we are doing!" What the heck were they doing before this? That tells me that Roof wasn't teaching them much and that Chiz had very little involvement. To me that is really the most disappointing thing to hear out of practice

He's a junior but he's yet to play his junior season... Look I understand some people's frustration with Jake but I don't think he is this garbage linebacker that others claim he is. Our LBs as a whole are struggling to align correctly under the new system. I am not ready to call him a bust or get rid of him because of one unproductive season though.
It is good tho to hear Cass is living up to some his hype. Hopefully he gets plenty of experience this season so we don't have this kind of learning curve for the next MLB

quote:I'd be shocked if McKinzy was the next MLB, unless he wins the job this year. I fully expect Reuben Foster to start from day 1, and to have McKinzy kick out to OLB. Holland, if he can't impress this season, will find himself riding the pine.

He should spend less time worrying about his fro and more time learning assignments. The guy does not impress me, and I have zero confidence it will finally click for him.
